We're Tommas (26) and Emily (24) and we're from Berlin. We're currently travelling through Costa Rica and are planning on heading to Panama soon. So far we have spent one month working on a glamping site in Costa Rica through workaway. We had another workaway planned for January, but unfortunately we got cancelled on a few days ago so we are now looking for a very new last minute workaway opportunity!

Hey!

I'm Tommas, am 26 years old and am originally from London but have been living in Berlin the last two years.

At the moment I am working as a social worker supporting homeless people but have previously been working with children and families as well as supporting adults with complex mental health and substance misuse issues whilst I was living in the UK.

Most of my work/volunteering experience has been with children and families, as well as working with vulnerable adults.

I'm really excited about our upcoming trip to Costa Rica later this year, as it is a perfect opportunity for me to explore and immerse myself in a new culture and try new things. This will also be only the second time I've left Europe!

Hi!

My name is Emily, and I'm currently studying Geography in Berlin. I grew up in a very rural area of Germany and before going to university, I lived in Thailand for a year as a volunteer.

I love travelling and want to live abroad full-time one day. I am very excited to go to Costa Rica this winter, as I have never been to that area of the world and am very interested in learning more about the culture, and also I have always wanted to learn Spanish.

As a couple we enjoy being outdoors, doing sports and being social and active too! We also enjoy cooking and going on trips away together and both like to play chess.

Emily:

Over the past 6 years, I have had a number of different jobs. While I was living in Thailand I worked at a café and taught English to teenagers and young adults. Apart from that I have worked as a cashier in a supermarket, a support worker at a homeless shelter for women and as a student assistant in the department for climatology at my university. I have just finished an internship at an environmental NGO in Italy where I learned a lot about gardening, social media and environmental education.

I also enjoy being creative and like to paint. And apart from that I love to try new things and learn new skills!

Tommas:

I have a lot of experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds. I have volunteered with the elderly, children with disabilities, refugees as well as homeless people. I also spent one summer working in a children's camp in the USA where I organised activities and looked after children between the ages of 5 and 15.

I have some experience doing basic woodwork such as sanding, oiling and finishing tables.

In my free time I like to be active and play football regularly. I also go to the gym a few times a week and enjoy cycling.

We have worked on a glamping site in Costa Rica where we painted the outdoor kitchen and outdoor shower, helped with maintenance, interacted with guests, and helped construct one of their tents.
