  • Description

    Hey I'm Tom,
After spending the past years focusing on studies and career, I'm on a hiatus from everyday life to take a step back and reflect on what really drives me and try out something new whilst seeing more of this amazing country as I go.
When I was younger, I always wanted to be a vet and I'm still passionate about animals and interested in any workaways involving them. I like sports as well, mainly going to the gym and playing tennis, and no matter if I'm working hard or just chatting at the dinner table, I always try to bring my positive energy wherever I am.
I have lived in lots of countries throughout my life and travelled whenever I could, so I am easily adabtable and enjoy connecting with new people and learning their way of life.
I am eager to contribute to meaningful projects and learn skills that cannot be learned from a textbook or in an office.

More details about my language interests
I can help teach French, especially for real-life conversations. I went to a French school but had most of my education in English, so I’ve got a mix of proper, structured French and the more natural kind (thanks to my grandparents, where French was non-negotiable). I’m happy to help with basics, pronunciation, and making it sound less like a textbook. Also always keen to learn languages or just random local words I’ll probably mispronounce at first. So yes: happy to teach, happy to learn, and ready for a few funny mistakes along the way.

  • More details about your skills

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys being thrown into new environments and figuring things out as I go. Having lived in several countries, I’ve become pretty adaptable and comfortable around different cultures, people, and ways of life. Most of my background is in hospitality, so I’m used to working hard, staying calm under pressure, and making sure people feel comfortable (even when things are slightly chaotic behind the scenes).
At the moment, I’m taking a few months to step away from the “normal” path and actually figure out what I like, what I don’t, and where I can be useful. That’s what drew me to Workaway. I’m not coming in with a “I only do this” mindset, I’m happy to help with pretty much anything: farming, construction, pet sitting, creative projects, or just general day-to-day help. I might not know everything yet, but I learn fast, I’m not afraid of hard work, and I’ll give anything a proper go (even if it means Googling “how to…” the night before).
I speak English and French fluently, so I can help with language practice or teaching. I’m also good with kids. I can keep them entertained, help with homework, and survive bedtime routines haha.
I’d say I come with a solid mix of being reliable and easygoing. I take work seriously, but not myself too seriously. I bring a good sense of humour, a lot of curiosity, and yes… some pretty awful jokes.
I love travelling, discovering new places, and learning from the people I meet along the way. Whether that’s skills, stories, or just how to cook something properly without setting off a minor disaster.

In short: I’m here to help, learn, work hard, and hopefully make your life a little easier (or at least more entertaining).

  • What else ...

Outside of work, I’m quite a mix of things. I enjoy creative things like music and art, and I’m always curious to try new things, even if I’m not immediately good at them. I’d really like to start documenting my experiences as well, writing about my adventures, taking photos and videos, and learning how to turn that into some kind of content.
I’m also interested in learning how to make music (even though I’ve never properly tried before), so I’m very open to picking that up along the way.
I like being active and spending time outdoors, but I’m just as happy having a chilled evening with good conversations, music, or a random board game (I’ll play anything, even if I have to learn the rules halfway through).
I’ve worked in hospitality, so I’m naturally hands-on, sociable, and used to helping wherever needed. I’m clean, respectful of shared spaces, and easy to live with (and I promise I won’t eat all your food… unless it’s really good).
Overall, I’m curious, open-minded, and keen to make the most out of every experience, while hopefully bringing good energy and a few questionable jokes along the way.
