  • Description

    Hi there! :)
I am Thess. After having had 3 beautiful, experience-rich years with and without workaway in Indonesia and New Zealand, I returned back home to Germany (and still could not settle back in). I always thought, traveling for me especially meant discovering beautiful sceneries and natural hidden gem stones- and even though that indeed is a major part of exploring for me, I started to learn over the years how especially important not only traveling, but living somewhere actually is. How meaningful connections to the most divers people are, how much my world can be enriched by all the different perspectives, values, ways of living, that inspire me and help me not only understanding and appreciating different cultures, perceptions and opinions even more, but also helping me discovering who I am and what I want to do with this life.
I started studying sustainability science, but I will need to pause that for now as I just want to be outdoors again, help and get my hands dirty. I would love to understand more about organic gardening and how to create a self-sustaining way of living.
But I could easily imaging just painting a whole day long a new room for you or discover delicious dishes together (probably not much of them being German, to be honst), as well as general maintenance around the house, caring for the details, making sure any plants stay alive etc. would be all things I'd be keen to help you with.

To my person: I would describe myself as rather introverted, and it often takes me a bit longer to open up myself. But once I got to know people better its likely that I will never get them out of my mind and heart again. I love adventures and surprises as well as an easy-going attitude sometimes, on the other hand I like to have deeper-going coversations on different topics. Deciding between meeting a thousand new people semi-well or geting to know and stay in contact with a hand full of persons, I would choose the second option.:) I am always up for adventures as well as I appreciate a good book with a cup of tea on the sofa as well.
I am looking forward to my next year with workaway!

  • More details about your skills

It is important to me to meet other people and cultures with an open mind, and I think that traveling is the best way to do that.

Work experiences with and without workaway:
    - helping with an art project (handcraft and mosaics)
    - working 2 years as a barista & ice cream scooper, a lot of contact with costumers
    - kitchenhand in a restaurant
    - teaching (English for children and students)
    - working on organic farms (gardening and animal care, handcraft)
    - renovating/ painting walls
    - housekeeping at diverse hostels
    - babysitting at home for friends and family, house-sitting
    - love to make craft and learn more techniques (fe how to carve sth out of an avocado stone, that would be great:D)

I have no problem with "tackling" and physically demanding work as well as I like to work patiently and careful.

My interests are languages, everything creative (writing, photography, handcraft and music) as well as sports. And I'm naturally fond of animals.
Also, if I sometimes miss the luck, I can actually cook quite well. Whatever work needs to be done, I am keen to give my best!:)
