Description
Hello! We are Erik and Laura, a married couple in our early 40s who love travelling and sharing new experiences. We live on a narrowboat which we have largely fitted out ourselves, and we travel the country enjoying the peaceful waterways and being a part of the boating community. We spend our free time enjoying puzzles and board games, drawing and befriending the local wildlife. When we travel abroad we love trying out local cuisines, experiencing the culture and travelling by public transport to really engage with the country.
We travel as much as we can each year around our full time jobs, both together and doing solo trips, but are planning to go part time in the future so that we can experience more of this life and the amazing people and culture that is all around. One day we would love to settle in a different country with a small bit of land where we can be self sustainable ideally within a community of like minded people.
We are just starting our workaway journey so this is all new territory for us. We are interested in farming opportunities, any kind of DIY, gardening, animal care or helping out a local community, so that we can gain more knowledge in things that may serve us in the future.
We have a lot of passion for trying new things, getting our hands dirty and sharing positive thoughts, ideas and experiences.
We don't have any dietary requirements and are both more than happy to stay with meat-eating, vegetarian, or vegan hosts and we are happy to help out with cooking and cleaning.Interests

More details about your skills
I have experience working in bars, shops and warehouses. I was an events manager for ten years which involved organising and running over 300 live music events, and I was a site manager for a small festival for five years. I've also spent the last eight years working in security, the last four of which for the civil service and I have also worked on a building site as a general labourer, where I also used various cutting tools. I’m still fairly new to DIY at home though, however I'm very eager to learn and would love the opportunity to help someone build something they love or be a part of a big contribution to a community. I'm a very positive and artistic person, I love being outside, going for a walk or cycle, and I take part in Spartan endurance races every year.
My wife has a lot of DIY experience, she is very keen on wood work, upcycling furniture, is a dab hand at plumbing and can do basic electrics. She also enjoys arts and crafts, and makes stained glass. She loves growing vegetables, she's a great cook, a trained hairdresser, and she does English proofreading, which may be very useful if you have websites or any kind of documents that you want reviewing, whether English is your mother tongue or a second language.Age
