About us
We’re Tess and Romain, an inseparable couple for 5 and a half years, always driven by curiosity and a thirst for adventure. Our next challenge? Setting off to discover the world, exploring new cultures, and meeting inspiring people. More than just a trip, this is a life project: coming back filled with gratitude, unforgettable memories… and rock-solid English skills!
Our travel story
We’ve already had a taste of adventure: Guadeloupe, Spain, Mallorca, Cyprus… short trips, but each rich in discoveries and experiences. These getaways confirmed one thing: we’re eager to explore further, for longer.
Our project
Now we want to take things to the next level: set off for a full year of traveling. Our goal? To connect with the world, to learn, share, and grow. Workaway fits perfectly into our vision: living closely with local communities, working hand in hand with them, exchanging and learning.
This journey will be our school, our playground, and above all, our most beautiful shared experience.

The main purpose of this journey is to learn and improve our English. Romain doesn’t have a very advanced level yet, but he has a real desire to learn and improve, with plenty of curiosity and motivation. Tess already speaks English very well, but she wants to go further and become fully bilingual. For us, this trip is a wonderful opportunity to combine language learning with a meaningful human experience, while sharing and discovering new things together.

Romain
My name is Romain. I grew up in a small rural town south of Nantes, France, surrounded by nature and always in close contact with animals. This connection gave me an appreciation for simple things, respect for the environment, and a natural ease with animals.
I studied construction and gained some experience in industry, which taught me how to work physically, with autonomy and method. I’m handy with small tasks, not afraid to try, and I learn by doing.
For the past four years, I’ve been a volunteer firefighter in my town, a rewarding experience that taught me solidarity, courage, and reliability. I enjoy helping others and see mutual support as a true value.
I’ve always been active in sports, I’ve played football since I was five and also enjoy padel, hiking, and running. I love pushing myself and am always up for a physical challenge. People often describe me as approachable, funny, and easygoing, which helps me build connections quickly.
I’m also drawn to adventure and discovery: traveling, meeting people, and exploring new cultures excite me. My English isn’t perfect yet, but this project is the perfect opportunity to improve through daily exchanges.
Beyond all this, family is important to me. I’m very close to my parents (Tony, a tiler, and Mylène, a coaching and training business owner) and my little brother Thomas. They have instilled values of respect, sharing, and kindness that I carry with me everywhere.
I also enjoy spending time with children, playing with them, and sharing simple moments.
Tess
My name is Tess. I also grew up in the countryside in a small town south of Nantes, France. I’m serious, curious, and reliable. My studies in communication have given me confidence with digital tools and strong organizational skills. I also love photography, which gives me a different perspective on things and a deep sensitivity.
My mom (Céline) is a pharmacy assistant, my dad (Sébastien) is a winemaker, and I grew up in a family where hard work, solidarity, and closeness are deeply valued. I have a 19-year-old brother (Ilan) and a 16-year-old sister (Elia) to whom I’m very close.
Since I was little, I’ve helped my dad in the vineyards, which taught me the value of effort and adaptability to different environments. I also grew up surrounded by animals (cats, goats, chickens) a truly lively home!
Sport has always played a big part in my life: I’ve been playing basketball since I was six. I volunteered as a referee and have been an official referee for five years, and for the past three years I’ve also led training sessions for new referees. These experiences taught me responsibility, rigor, and sharing knowledge.
Since I was 15, I’ve regularly babysat. I love being with children, building connections with them, and caring for them with patience and kindness.
Finally, I enjoy meeting people, learning new things, and discovering other cultures.
Us
As a couple, we are a true team. Romain brings energy and strength, while I bring practical sense and organization. We enjoy working together and complement each other well. What defines us is our seriousness, positivity, and desire to meet new people, discover other cultures, and share wonderful moments.
With us, work is done seriously, but always with simplicity, joy, humor, and positive energy.
