Profile information

Description
I have a deep connection with nature and have dedicated the last 15 years of my life to living off-grid in northern Canada - the Yukon. I built a cabin together with my partner, and lived life as self-sufficiently as possible growing a garden, exchanging and bartering with local farmers and gathering wild edibles. I have a lot of backcountry experience hiking in Yukon and Alaska. I love dogs very much and have years of experience with sled dogs, shelter dogs and now my own Belgian Malinois.
I am interested in natural healing methods, plant medicine and staying physically fit though yoga and strength training.
I am travelling to learn and expand my skills specifically in growing methods that are not available in my cold environment, like fruits and orchards and so many other things I would term as exotic for me like citrus, avocado and olives. I want to spend time in more temperate climates and experience how other people live in communion with nature and live self-sufficiently in relation to their climate.
I studied art history and Italian in university so I have basic language skills and would love to expand. I am also fluent in Ukrainian. I worked for many years in a univeristy library and managed a used bookstore. Learning from books are a big part of my life as this a quality source of entertainment when the winter is so long in the Yukon.

More details about your skills
I have a lot of experience with gardening, using hand tools, and enjoy physical labour. I put together above-ground garden boxes suitable for the northern climate and worked up soil from scratch over the years. I am fluent in English and Ukrainian and some basic Italian. I have years of experience working with dogs (sled dogs in the Yukon, shelter dogs and my own Belgian Malinois). I communicate clearly with others and take direction well. I work well independently on a task or together in a group. I like organization and being tidy. I am responsible and safe when it comes to working with machinery. I have done many local work exchanges in the Yukon and Alaska. I have many years of experience working in very cold, difficult environments gathering firewood for example amd hauling water so I am used to working hard. I have an international driver's licence and know how to drive a manual car. I have basic carpentry skills as I assisted my partner who is a carpenter on building our cabin and other projects.
