  • Description

    Irish Passport and EU Citizen.
My favourite kind of opportunity would be in a friendly, warm-hearted little community of souls who speak to each other rather than look at their phones, go for walks with each other and tell stories by the fire!

I am looking to volunteer because I have grown tired of working from home online and wish to get practical and real again, and meet new people.

I grew up in some very wild places on the Atlantic coast, starting with Great Blasket island, Dingle Peninsular, Letermullen island in Connemara, as well as Tresco, an island in the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall. So I am an outdoor person who really and truly loves to have a bit of wild nature around me to connect with and find my natural balance - it is what I missed when living in towns and cities!

I write stories and 'gentle philosophy', for this is my purpose, as I see it, but I am also very social and enjoy good conversation very much, I love meeting new people, being among animals and music, too! I have worked with horses, wolves, dogs and cats in Italy.

While living in Italy I worked 2 seasons picking olives so I know a lot about picking and a little bit about pruning. I have worked on an apple farm in England. I have done some paid work helping to construct and erect a large wooden Yurt in Italy also.

I did 3 years paid work at a Summer Camp for children and teenagers in Italy and I have a lot of experience doing art projects such as sculpture with children. I created some of the art projects here and the children and I made real bows and arrows from the woodland trees and created baseball pitches, croquet lawns and fun courses. I am good at gardening also, having worked on an organic vegetable farm and I have also been self employed doing gardening maintenance.

I am good at making fires, having grown up with an open fire. Mostly though I am a good all-rounder with a good and conscientious work ethic, and I'm definitely a person with a sense of humour and a strong sense of community!

    I love horses.

  • What else ...

I am a good storyteller by the fire. Mostly from my parents, and my life, living on the Blasket island when I was young in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, and the many eventful things that happened to us there! I can play Chess at a competent level ( nothing too fancy) and recite poetry from memory (Yeats and Shakespeare)
