Description
🌿 About Me: A Positive Explorer & Experienced All-Rounder
Hello! My name is Effy (JiWon Shin), a university student from South Korea majoring in Life Sciences, with double majors in Cell & Gene Therapy and Bio-Food & Pharmaceutical Science.
To broaden my horizons and connect with the world, I decided to take a gap year before my sophomore year. I am passionate about learning languages (currently enjoying Spanish!) and understanding diverse cultures through nature and people.
Having recently spent two wonderful months traveling and volunteering solo in Canada and the UK , I am not just a helper—I am an experienced, hands-on Workawayer ready to bring positive energy and practical skills to your project!
🛠️ What I Can Bring to Your Community (My Skills)
Proven Hands-On & DIY Skills: During my volunteering in the UK, I learned and mastered various physical skills, including housekeeping, sanding, varnishing, and painting. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and love seeing a project come together!
Childcare & Teaching Experience: I genuinely love kids and prioritize their safety. I have experience as a Sunday school teacher (solely responsible for 20+ children during a retreat) and currently work as an assistant tutor in Math and English for middle and high school students.
Kitchen & Cooking Enthusiast: I spent 6 months working as a kitchen assistant in a Western restaurant (proficient in hygiene and food prep). During my first Workaway in Canada, I focused heavily on cooking and connecting with people over meals. I love preparing a wide variety of dishes to share!
Leadership & Organization: Back in university, I served as the Department Student Representative for a year and won an Excellence Award in a curriculum development competition. I am organized, proactive, and a highly independent problem solver.
💭 My Volunteering Philosophy
My first Workaway in Canada taught me the beauty of human connection. Spending time cooking for others and sharing deep, meaningful conversations allowed me to reflect on life and appreciate different perspectives.
Whether you need help renovating a room, managing daily chores, teaching children, or cooking a warm meal, I am ready to adapt, learn, and contribute. I can’t wait to meet you and become a valuable part of your journey! Let’s create some wonderful memories together. ✨ -

More details about your skills
Hi there! I’m a university student from South Korea.
I am a huge nature lover and have a soft spot for animals. I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities—especially freediving, snorkeling, skiing, and skating. My absolute favorites are vast, dreamy landscapes that make you feel the wonder of nature.
People tell me I have a bright personality. My biggest strength is my positive outlook and my ability to cherish the present moment.
I decided to start this journey in 2026 to step away from the fierce competition of university life. I want to live closer to nature and learn more about myself through the world.
I’m also ready to help! I have 6 months of experience as a kitchen assistant in a Western restaurant, and I love children enough to have volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for a year.
I adapt quickly to new environments and have a strong will to learn things fast, even if they are new to me. I look forward to making great memories with you! -
