Hey I'm Shanti a soon to be graduate biology student from Hamburg,

I am on work away because I prefer to get to know places in depth, rather than just passing through. I want to learn from locals and really expand my knowledge and give back in return. I choose Canada for my work and travel because I don’t just love nature, but outside is where I want to be the most.

Equally important for me is the wish to meet Métis, Inuit and First Nations people. I have this wish for a lot of reasons, but one reason is that I'm curious to learn and unlearn, especially because most of what I learned in my life came from a western, white point of view. I want to carry myself with respect, integrity and humbleness in this request.

I am a curious, adventures, friendly person that’s strives for harmony. I like to learn constantly about different new things. I am extroverted but I need more and more solitude these days. In my free time I like to go hiking, wild camping, read, write poems and other texts and work out.

I try my best to live sustainable, unlearn biases, create new ways of living and to take responsibility to work towards a world that lets all being’s flourish.

Formal education: I am a soon to be biology minor graduate

Childcare: I have worked for 8 years in childcare (Ages 1-14 years) as a babysitter, and I also worked as a care assistant for kids with disabilities in primary schools.

Social worker: I did an internship at a work and housing facility for people with disabilities

Waiter/cook assistant: I assisted in my mother’s restaurant, and I enjoy cooking vegan and vegetarian meals.

Biology tutor: I tutored a Highschool students in biology and other subjects

Tour guide: I conducted tours for tourist in a national park in Sweden

Maintenance and Handicraft: I assisted in maintenance during my internship at a Swedish national park. I also partly grew up in the countryside which involved working at the house and property.

Animals: I have some basic horse-riding skills, I grew up around cats, I have some experience with work on a dairy farm and I volunteer as a dogwalker at my local shelter.

Workshops/event organisation: I volunteered to teach queer education to schoolchildren and instructed my own book club.

Computer & Internet skills: I know Office and I can conduct scientific literature research.

Experiences abroad:

Holiday: Denmark, Spain, Portugal, India, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, United States America, Canada, Morocco, Namibia, Indonesia, Turkey, Hungary, Norway.

Student exchange during Highschool: I attended a Waldorf school in Buenos Aires, Argentina for three months.

Semester: I spend one semester in Sweden, Uppsala.

Internship: I did a summer internship in Småland, Sweden in a national park.
