  • Description

My name is Indrotomo, a villager having an English Training camp living at the cool town located at the center of Central Java called Temanggung, about 2 hours from Yogyakarta airport. I live with my wife and a servant. My two daughters and a son live in different cities.
My Camp focuses on making villagers both children and adults able to speak English. Most of them have no enough chance to communicate in English in their surrounding even in their school class. It is the strong reason why I run the camp all the months of the year to motivate them in speaking.
Every year I invite volunteers to help my training camp. In the training they ask the children to sing songs, play games and of course speak English.
On spare time, we let the volunteers visit the interesting places around Temanggung and neighboring towns such as Borobudur temple at Magelang, royal palaces in Yogyakarta, Dieng plataeau at Wonosobo, beautiful hills, traditional arts, dances, exotic resorts, home industries of arenga/ palm sugar, coffee, do mount climbing, playing music, sport at Temanggung.
    The projects I run are:
    1. Speaking class
    2. Learning to speak with foreigners and cultural exchange in the villages (outdoor)
    3. Visiting home made traditional food and drink and arts.
If you are interested in, you can stay for weeks, or months. Temanggung is of course, a safe town to stay. We can have 2-4 volunteers to stay together with us in our house with friendly neighborhood and wifi connection.
The main job is as a partner to make people speak, speak and speak better in the camp, at school close to our camp. You can have 2 or 3 times Javanese meals a day together with us and help yourselves in making tea, coffee and other drink, cooking wash the dishes when our servant is not available on Sunday.
I am looking forward to seeing you coming to my camp as volunteers
Warmest greeting from Indonesia to you all. Thanks.

"As Workaway Ambassadors, this particular Workaway experience forged, for us, some of the fondest memories of our time in enchanting Indonesia. Although our main role was ‘English Teacher’, a stay at Mr Indro’s is so much more than just teaching! We were lucky to witness, not only everyday life, but also traditional villages and their particular festivals. Be prepared for the overflowing warmth and gratitude of the school kids, not to mention the delightful curiosity of the locals in the neighbouring villages! If you're travelling in search of authentic cultural experiences, we highly recommend you pay a visit to Mr Indrotomo and his friends."
