Description
We are Maarten (34) and Seliene (29), a couple from Belgium travelling in Latin America.
We are both nature lovers. For Seliene, being outside and connecting with nature is an important source of happiness, and vital for having a balanced life. At home she loves spending time with our chickens, working in our little vegetable garden, growing herbs or taking long walks outside. Seliene is studying herbalism and is therefore very interested in medicinal plants. She would be delighted if she can take home some Amazonian plant knowledge. In our kitchen there is always brewing something, from Kombucha to elderflower syrup, from home baked bread to dried meals. Besides that she practices yoga and meditation, which gives her rest and stability in her sometimes busy daily life.
For Maarten, there is always something to explore outdoors. He does rock climbing, loves hiking and trekking in the mountains and if he could, he would one day love to work as a mountain guide. Besides this, he also has some construction experience, makes our own cupboards, and built his own campervan to travel with.
Both of us are well-traveled, and we both have experience with volunteer work. Seliene did workaways on biological farms, in ecocommunities, yoga centers. And Maarten volunteered in permaculture farms and indigenous communities, and in refugee camps. Throughout his travels in Latin America Maarten learnt Spanish and Seliene has started to learn it now.
We both eat vegetarian or vegan. We are enthusiastic people, very eager to learn new things, interested to hear and share stories and life experiences. We are looking for a peaceful place with beautiful landscapes to discover, great opportunities to learn new skills and like-minded people/communities.
