Description
Hello! I'm an American who moved to France 3 years ago. I bought a little farm and live here with my dog, 1 cat, chickens (fresh eggs every day!) and 3 alpacas with 2 more on the way!. I make my living as a musician and alpaca farmer. As the property evolves, I need help with the garden. The project includes improving the infrastructure around my veggie beds, maybe moving some existing stones to create paths, trimming grass around the fences and potentially trimming some bushes. Weeding! Grass is the enemy and I need it removed and mulch added to the herb beds. There are many other garden and eco-projects I could introduce as well, but the focus is mostly garden help which involves more physical strength. I have all of the tools and while I don't mind teaching how to use all of them, it would be nice to find someone who is somewhat familiar with their use. I grew up on a farm in the U.S. as well as am a great scratch cook. I have a small gite which works for a single person or a couple. It is self-contained. It is a very peaceful property and I'm happy to introduce you to my alpacas should you be interested in learning more about their care. I'm also bilingual and happy to teach French and/or English as interested. There are many beautiful places to visit in my area. It would be my pleasure to introduce you to them.
Since I'm self-employed, I work long hours but have the flexibility to enjoy life. Unfortunately I've suffered a bad knee injury (broken and torn meniscus) for which is limiting some of my activities. I do expect you to work hard, show initiative, take pride in your work and want to help make my life easier. In return you will have a cozy country accommodation and excellent meals.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I'm a former teacher and archaeologist so am happy to teach French, piano as well as talk about the local cultural sites...plus if you're interested in learning more about permaculture and gardening, I implement these practices.
Help
I've badly broken my knee and I need help with the garden. The project includes boundaries around my veggie beds, maybe moving some existing stones to create paths, trimming grass around the fences and potentially trimming some bushes. There are many other garden and eco-projects I could introduce as well, but the focus is mostly garden help which involves more physical strength. I have all of the tools and while I don't mind teaching how to use all of them, it would be nice to find someone who is somewhat familiar with their use. American English and French are my languages. I would like to improve my ability to speak Spanish and since I'm not a Native speaker of French, I'm always open to improvement.Accommodation
Self-contained gite (cottage) amenable for a single person or a couple. Small but full kitchen, salon, separate bedroom and lovely bathroom. A small private balcony on the back-side of the gite over-looking a garden.
I would like to know about any dietary restrictions for the person who accepts this opportunity. I can cook or I can buy groceries as the gite is self-contained with a kitchen. The person is welcome to eat meals with me if they choose as well. I love to cook and use organic ingredients, have a garden and prepare healthy meals....and sometimes treats! What else ...
I think it would be helpful if you arrived with a vehicle as this is a remote area. There is a bus which runs the main route and the train station is 20-30 minutes away. There is also a lake about a 10 minute drive from my house and many cafes and cultural sites are beginning to blossom. The village of Caylus has music and galleries. The village of Cordes-sur-Ciel is one of the most incredible batiments you will experience in the area. Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is a hub of cultural activity with access to rock-climbing, mountain biking and kayaking.
