  • Description

I’m a British backpackers who’s been living in Australia since September 2022 (primarily volunteering at a surf camp with a couple of trips to SE Asia thrown in the mix!).

I’m extremely passionate about the outdoors, the ocean, animals (especially horses! I’ve been riding since I was 3) and all things nature. Australia and Australian’s really reflect these passions in their culture which is part of the reason I’ve found my time here so far to be so fulfilling.

I’m a super hard worker and my motivation is always boosted when I’m surrounded by other people who are passionate about the work they’re doing, whether it’s surf coaching, working on a farm, charity volunteer work.

Long term my goal is to be a primary school or special-ed teacher however I’ve got a few adventures lined up before starting on this chapter. However having left the surf camp I’m still figuring out what my next adventure will be - so I’m very open to all kinds of opportunities and really excited to see what happens next :)

  • More details about your skills

My skills are very varied as I’ve been fortunate enough to have had many unique life experiences throughout my childhood and early adult life!

    - I grew up on and around farms, so I’m comfortable working with all kinds of farm animals (I even looked after a family friend’s alpaca one summer!)
    - Full clean drivers’ license with experience driving cars and trucks.
    - Masses of ‘customer facing roles’ from hospitality to retail and I’ve previously worked as a very successful recruiter, which is to say my communication and teamwork skills are excellent.
    - My mum is originally from Iran so if you’re looking for an amazing cook I’m your girl.
    - Random one, but I’m very organised with both my time and physical workload making me a really efficient worker.
    - During my school years I worked as a tutor for girls in younger year groups which developed my passion for teaching that I want to pursue professionally in the future, as well as giving me very good patience.
    - Lots of experience working with children as a babysitter, tutor and role model figure for charities such as Place2Be, where I went to local schools in Edinburgh and met weekly with children experience difficulties at home.

  • What else ...

I believe I covered a lot in the description but overall my main interests include horse riding (as I mentioned I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old and I think this was the beginning of my love for animas), surfing, teaching and working with animals. I grew up around cows, sheep and chickens and at home cats and dogs. The only thing I wish I could have more experience with is pigs they’re so cool.

I also hold a first class degree in film, and this interest has blended with my love of surfing into making me a big fan of surf photography (next goal is to save up for a really great camera and zoom lens to take this to the next level).

My mum completely instilled in me a love of food too, in my home she really showed her love through cooking and we grew up eating lots of food from her home country of Iran, which she fled in the 1970s to the UK. I find that food is an amazing way to get in touch with the culture of a country and as often as I can I share Iranian food with friends. Moreover I love when people cook me food from their home countries too who doesn’t like yummy food!
