Description
Hi, I'm Rosa!
Currently in Guatemala, traveling through Flores, Rio Dulce, Semuc Champey, Lake Atitlan, Antigua. Then on to El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Columbia. Stopping along the way to do work exchanges, learn and share skills, and build on the little Spanish language that I know.
I am from Scotland, just lived, worked and travelled in Canada for 1.5 years, New Zealand for 7, and very excited to be exploring somewhere new!
A creative person who loves music and art, in particular I play guitar and sing. I have been working on and off as a full time musician since the end of 2023. Previously I worked in environmental restoration, in ski fields/mtb parks, sound engineering, guiding, serving, housekeeping, reception, and many other random pursuits.
I love to bake, cook, and generally creating. I like to practice yoga and meditation to help restore balance in my fairly busy lifestyle.
Very active and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, bouldering, and chilly lake swims. I love being outdoors and can't resist an adventure.
A big goal for me while in Central and South America, is to learn more about the countries language and culture - with a particular interest in learning Spanish. Although, I am very open to learning all languages.
Sustainability is very important to me and influences my lifestyle heavily - from the ways I choose to get to work to the products I buy and activities I partake in. I like to share and learn ways to improve and do things differently with others. I would love to learn how to build an off-grid sustainable house, and incorporate more practices into my daily life.
Love animals, though in my current lifestyle I cannot own a cat or dog, I do jump at the chance to take care of animals, including dog walking and pet sitting. I have spent time in a goat farm volunteering, and enjoy learning how to take care of animals.
Conscientious, organised, and enjoy working with and caring for others. I work hard but also like to relax in my spare time! -

More details about your skills
My experience is so vast and random, here are a few examples;
Play guitar, singing, cooking, baking, running own business, landscaping, service installation, horticulture, heavy machinery operation.
I have worked and studied environmental restoration, ecology, and conservation - I was a part of a large scale lake/riparian restoration project, where we planted over 10,000 plants, installed sediment traps, did bird and lizard tracking and protection, and controlled invasive animal and plant species.
I have also done a lot of gardening and landscaping - know how to tend to plants, veggies, and fruits, and have done some work in kiwi fruit orchards and vineyards. I am able to lift fairly heavy loads, and love digging. I have a little bit of experience using a loader/digger but by no means skilled.
I have worked as a cook in a cafe and several restaraunts along with serving and bartending. I enjoy creating new flavours and am accustomed to the challenge of dietary requirements, as I cannot eat gluten or dairy.
I am handy and have been a part of many DIY projects - digging and building a well, removing and reinstalling flooring, demolishing walls, making furniture with scrap materials, and creating art!
Please enquire about any specific needs you have - I have changed jobs so many times, sometimes I forget about the random things I have done :p -
