Description
Hello! My name is Rosa Voetee and I live in a small village in the Netherlands. I love going on runs and hikes in the forest nearby, I love to read, surf, write and I enjoy spending time with my family, boyfriend, friends and dog- but I am basically open to try everything that's new. I love adventure. I'm taking a gap year and I want to connect more with nature and discover different cultures and types of living. I specifically feel deeply connected to dogs and most animals and love being around them. It makes me feel grounded.
I would love to gain more experiences, for example I am very interested in becoming an au pair in a big city, joining an alternative living community off the grid, caring for sled dogs in sweden or norway (and experience a harsh winter and maybe learn to ski!) and living and helping out on a sailing boat. I eat a vegetarian and half of the time also vegan diet and do not eat added sugar (mostly) or consume alcohol. I find that this makes me feel more clearheaded and energetic. I am very open to new ideas around food. I try to integrate mindfullness and meditation in my daily life to try to be more present in the moment.
So far my most exciting experience this year has been in a community that was a big animal shelter, where I cleaned enclosures, fed animals and monitored their health. It was my first time living in a community and I loved it so much and i learned a lot. Besides the practical skills I gained involving animal care I gained experience in resolving conflict, coming to compromises, communicating with a lot of different kinds of people and working in teams. It was also at this community where I deepened my passion for surfing and realised this is something I want to pursue more.
Next year I will most likely start with the studies cultural antropology and development sociology. During my gap year I have gained a lot of insight in what I want and what makes my heart beat faster, I am incredibly grateful for all of these experiences that have made me a better human and I hope to experience many more:) In any case I am happy to spend this year learning new languages, skills, gaining experience and meeting new people. Hopefully I will see you soon!
Love,
Rosa -

More details about your skills
This year I got my Cambridge certificate with c2 proficiency!
In school I always help my friends with their maths homework and I always check their essays for errors. You could say I'm a pretty advanced reader, I've given feedback on someones writing more than once.
For two years I had a babysitting job, where I also took care of their dog. This made me realise how much I love being around dogs and how easily I connect with them.
I was a waitress and also worked at a bar for one and a half years, which developed my problem solving abilities. I was given a lot of responsibility in this job at a young age. I helped hosting and managing pub quizzes, parties and wedding receptions. Many times I took a leading position and gave my coworkers instuctions. Also, I have been a dishwasher for a year which really made me realise what hard work is. I'd love to go back to being a waitress but since I currently work at a new company I have to start at the bottom again. I really enjoy being around others and it gives me a lot of energy.
I'm excited to learn new things and am very motivated to immerse myself in new experiences. -
