  • Description

Hi, I'm Randi, and I love people and animals. I have volunteered on several farms across Europe and Canada where I have had to care for various animals, and I've done more community/family oriented stays in the US. I have a few years of experience in hospitality tourism, and as an avid traveler, I'm excited to meet and learn from new people! I am always open to new experiences, and like to push myself to try out new things all the time. My ideal workaway would have at least 1 horse and 1 cat and lots to do outside - especially in the garden.

Cultural exchange is the most fun part of travel for me. I started volunteering internationally when I was 19, which includes WWOOF and HelpX. I have traveled without money in the past, which was an amazing experience. I choose to see people as good first!

I'm interested in learning more about no dig, permaculture practices, how to preserve fruits + veggies, how to process herbs and flowers for oils/tinctures/etc, and creating raised beds/light woodworking skills. I'm up for learning unique and niche skills too!

In Canada I am a certified equine massage therapist, former energy worker, and am passionate about wellness for animals and humans alike. I'm a born entrepreneur, so that means I'm solution-oriented and keep trying. I am always growing my knowledge of plant care/gardening, and would love to connect with people who are passionate about growing and preserving their own food. Ideally I would like to have my own small holding with a polytunnel and rescue animals. I have a good understanding of mushroom cultivation and would love to share/practice that with others.

  • More details about your skills

    • I have loads of experience with animals and hospitality, and love getting to form connections.
    • I have some informal experience with renovation and painting, and really enjoy doing physical work where you see your results. Not so much with building, but from drywalling onwards (more of a finishing repertoire).
    • I understand organic gardening basics (admittedly more than beginner's knowledge) and permaculture theory, and have done some landscaping.
    • I have experience caring for competition horses, and a Certified Equine Massage Therapist, and basic care knowledge for other farm animals. I grew up with cats and dogs.
    • I am an excellent vegan baker and good vegan cook, but find it more enjoyable to bake than trying to come up with meal ideas.
    • I am not great with caring for for multiple young children (one is fine!) nor intensive cleaning - but there can always be exceptions made.

  • What else ...

My *dream wishlist* of skills I could learn would be horse driving, willow weaving, archery, and swordsmanship.

I'm not at all interested in doing drugs or plant medicines, just *maybe* a glass of wine or cider. I only put into my body what helps me feel aligned.

I love a good chat, but please respect I need daily time alone. I simply cannot be on from dawn til dusk like I used to. It would be SUPER helpful if you had a routine, schedule, or at least semi-regular time frames for your workdays - if you're completely go with the flow, that won't work for me at this time.

Please note I only drive automatic, and have limited experience on the left side of the road.
