Howdy! My name is Preston and I couldn't be more thrilled about spending my summer slow-traveling Europe through Workaway. I previously exchanged through the site during my last trip over a decade ago, which was a rewarding/productive/transformative experience, and once again hope to bring a positive attitude, charm, and elbow grease to your summer projects in Europe. Most importantly, I love sharing my culture and life stories, and am all about building connections that resonate beyond my stay

A little about myself: I am 38 years old college instructor that teaches computer literacy, digital media, and the occasional writing class. In a previous lifetime (known as my twenties), I picked up skills such as carpentry and tree care while working as an arborist, as well as being a "trail dog" (building and manintaining hiking trails).

My off-the-clock time is spent as a honky tonk musician, chess head, armchair philosophistorian, and I never miss my afternoon neighborhood stroll. If you believe I'm a good fit for your place, I'd love to cook you up some cowboy dishes, play old timey music, and talk about these matters of life.

Physical Labor (Skills I developed in my 20s and occasionally revisit in my 30s)
--Carpentry: I built smaller projects such as bookshelves and benches. Also, during my trail work days, I occasionally took part in larger carpentry projects such as bridges and stair cases.
--Treework: I worked as an arborist for two years, which included nursery tree work, pruning, and extensive chainsaw experience
--Mechanical: I have owned motorcyles for over six years (have one now!) that I've maintained myself

On to my second life (My every day life over the last 5ish years) when I transitioned to teaching and instructional technology
--Digital media: I've taken a film classes and create professional instructional videos as part of my current job. I also previously hosted and produced a podcast about music.
--Social Media: Fluent in Instagram and Tiktok. Have used these various platforms to promote my music as well as my podcast
--Web design: I have designed two websites with Wordpress. I've taught a webdesign class at the college, and also know HTML and CSS coding languages.
--English: I've got two English degrees, one in American literature and the other focused on the fusion of writing pedagogy and instructional technology, which is how I ended up in my current job.
