  • Description

Hello. My name is Philippe, but I also go by Philip. I am from Canada and I am retired.
I have taught English in Nepal, Thailand, and Cambodia for many years. I have also travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. I am single, so I can travel and stay for long periods. I am a hobby gardener and avid animal lover. I have had dogs, cats, birds, fish, and other critters throughout my life. I am Buddhist, so I do not kill or injure any living being. I am flexible, adaptable, calm, mature, and enjoy a quiet life. Wherever I am at the moment is where I consider home. I am nomadic by nature. I look forward to assisting you with your needs.

More details about my language interests
Being a student also helps me as a teacher of English since it puts me in the student's position rather than the instructor's. I can appreciate how nerve-wracking public speaking can be and how to overcome that with patience and persistence.

  • More details about your skills

My primary skill is teaching English. I volunteered in Canada teaching conversational English to new immigrants. Then I decided to travel to Nepal where I volunteered at an orphanage and a local school. That then brought me to Cambodia where I have been teaching for 10 years. My specialty is teaching phonics sounds therefore establishing a strong foundation for reading and writing. Teaching students practical English speaking is also a skill which I excel at. While it's important to know grammar rules and correct punctuation, being able simple questions from a guest, or tourist is essential for effective communication. I am also very skilled with Photoshop, video editing, AI prompts, AI art, Microsoft Word, Excel and Office. Also, I love gardening, all pets and cooking.
