  • Description

-My name is Rubén, I’m 20 years old, and I spent almost the entire year of 2025 living in Amsterdam. In April last year, I left my hometown to start a journey I had wanted to do for a long time: to travel, work, and experience life in different places.

While living in Amsterdam, I worked selling tour tickets, as a barista at Joe & The Juice, and through the work agency Melles People. These jobs taught me how to work in fast-paced environments, deal with people from many cultures, and stay reliable and focused while working as part of a team.

I joined Workaway with Pedro because traveling and learning through hands-on experiences really motivates me. I enjoy being active, working, spending time in nature, and learning new skills. I’m especially interested in going to New Zealand, as it feels like the perfect place to combine work, nature, and personal growth.

I consider myself a calm, positive, and resilient person. I take my responsibilities seriously, but I also enjoy good conversations, music, and sharing everyday life with others. I’m happy to help wherever I’m needed and to contribute in a practical, reliable way.

-My name is Pedro, and I’m excited to introduce myself to the Workaway community. I’m 25 years old, and over the past years I’ve shaped my life around learning through real experiences, movement, and meeting people from different cultures.

I have an aerospace engineering background, which has given me a strong sense of responsibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a structured and reliable way. Alongside this, I’ve spent 3 years working in summer camps as a rock-climbing specialist, where teamwork, adaptability, and positive energy were essential every day. These experiences taught me how to take initiative, work with people of all ages, and stay calm and efficient in dynamic environments.

I’ve lived in Germany and Austria, and I’ve also taken part in exchange programs in the USA and England, which helped me become very comfortable in international environments. Being exposed to different cultures, mentalities, and ways of living has made me open-minded, flexible, and curious about the world.

I joined Workaway with my friend Ruben, because I genuinely enjoy traveling, nature, learning new skills, and helping wherever I’m needed. I feel most alive when I’m discovering new places, and this time I want to get to know the beautiful New Zealand and its wonderful people. I’m a positive, resilient, and energetic person, always willing to contribute, learn, and give my best to whatever project I’m part of.

    Rubén:
-I have experience working in customer service and fast-paced environments, which has helped me develop strong communication skills and a solid work ethic. In Amsterdam, I worked selling tour tickets and as a barista at Joe & The Juice, where I learned to work efficiently, stay organized, and perform well under pressure.

Through the work agency Melles People, I gained experience in different types of jobs, which made me adaptable and comfortable learning new tasks quickly. Working in different environments has taught me how to take initiative, make decisions when needed, and step up responsibly in day-to-day situations.

In addition, I have professional experience working for an interior design company as a 3D modeler. This role helped me develop attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines.

I’m physically active, motivated, and comfortable with hands-on work. I’m reliable, practical, and able to take the lead when necessary, while always maintaining a respectful and cooperative attitude. I am also a really fast learner, so most probably I will manage to learn any new skill quickly.

    Pedro:
-I have a technical, hands-on engineering background, combining problem-solving with practical, physical work. I’m used to working with tools, building, fixing, assembling, and troubleshooting real systems. I also enjoy DIY projects and maintenance tasks both independently and with people.

I am fluent in Spanish and English, and I am currently learning German.

I have strong experience working in summer camps, where I took responsibility for group coordination, daily activities, and creating a safe, motivating environment. I also worked as a climbing specialist, supervising climbing activities, handling equipment, and guiding participants with a strong focus on safety, confidence, and teamwork.

In addition, I have volunteered with ESN (Erasmus Student Network), helping organize events and support international students. I also have experience working with children with ADHD, which strengthened my patience, adaptability, and ability to manage high-energy or diverse needs in a positive way.

Overall, I’m a practical, reliable, and adaptable person, comfortable with physical work, technical challenges, outdoor activities, and learning new skills quickly.
