  • Description

    Hello!

I’m an active, curious, and open-hearted woman who loves travelling, nature, animals, and meaningful cultural exchange. I enjoy learning new skills and adapt very quickly to new environments and routines.

I’ve already completed several Workaway experiences (around 3–4), all of which were enriching and positive. These exchanges confirmed how much I value collaboration, community living, and contributing in practical, hands-on ways.

I was born in Brazil, so my mother tongue is Portuguese. I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and I have working knowledge of Italian, which I’m keen to practise and improve.

Staying healthy and grounded is important to me. I practise yoga and meditation and love hiking, cycling, swimming, and outdoor life. I’m particularly interested in yoga retreats, working with animals, gardening, farming, and outdoor or nature-based projects. I also enjoy cooking and sharing healthy, international vegetarian food.

Professionally, I’m an English teacher with over 25 years of experience. This background has made me organised, reliable, and used to committing fully to the projects I take on. I’m able to travel during school holidays, which allows me to be fully present, focused, and engaged during my stay.

I genuinely value the Workaway philosophy of exchange, learning, and connection, and I’m excited about finding a host where I can contribute positively while continuing to learn and grow. I see each Workaway as an experience that enriches both sides.

Please feel free to ask me anything you’d like to know — I’m always happy to share more.

    Warm regards,
    Paula

  • More details about your skills

Language teaching and learning – Experienced English teacher; happy to help with language practice, conversation, or informal lessons, and always keen to learn new languages myself.

Animal care & connection – I’ve had pets all my life and naturally connect with animals. I’m attentive, gentle, and genuinely enjoy caring for them.

Gardening & plants – I love working with plants and being outdoors. While I’m still learning, I’m motivated, observant, and happy to help with gardening, planting, and general land care.

Horses – I have a real passion for horses. Although I haven’t yet had the opportunity to care for them daily, I’ve taken basic riding lessons and would love to learn more about horse care if given the chance.

Cooking – A confident, intuitive cook (vegetarian). Nothing fancy, but I’m very good at creating tasty, nourishing meals with whatever is available — and people usually love the results.

Creativity & hands-on projects – Creative and artistic, with a growing interest in chalk painting, up-cycling furniture, and simple decorative or restoration projects.

  • What else ...

I tend to thrive in quieter, smaller settings rather than large group environments. I work best when tasks are focused and calm, and I’m especially comfortable working independently or one-to-one, particularly with animals, children within a family, or hands-on projects. I appreciate clear routines and a peaceful atmosphere, which helps me do my best work and be fully present. Simpler, more personal settings suit me better than busy communal ones.
