Description
I am spending a year traveling abroad after over a decade in the corporate world. I enjoy learning about different cultures, spending time in nature, and connecting with others. I aspire to be of service to others as a way of repaying all the guidance and support that I have recieved over my life's journey.
Others describe me as a calm, even-tempered person. I try to keep a level head and see the positive in all situations. I can be a little quiet but deeply enjoy meeting new people and connecting with them. I've been learning Spanish at an immersion school in Cusco, Peru, and am looking forward to putting those lessons to practical use!
I am most interested in host stays, environmental projects, and animal care. I have never taught English as a second language but would be interested in opportunities to do so!

English is my native language, and my Spanish is roughly at a high-beginner level.
During my corporate career, I spent a good portion of my time training, mentoring, and evaluating subordinates and junior employees. I have public speaking experience and can create and deliver a good presentation. I have built and maintained small business websites, helped manage their social media accounts, and provided them with basic IT support.
I've done basic gardening and landscaping. I've worked with shelter dogs as a volunteer. I'm not a handyman but have performed basic household repairs such as painting, replacing tile, repairing drywall, and minor plumbing work.

I enjoy European board games such as 7 Wonders and Settlers of Catan. I am an avid reader and particularly enjoy the classics; one of my motivations for learning Spanish is to be able to read Spanish-language classics such as the works of Gabriel García Márquez.
