Hello, my name is Omeed! I was raised in the gorgeous pacific northwest and have spent the last 4 years completing my undergraduate studies at Cornell University. I majored in Human Development with minors in Gerontology (the study of older adults) and Music.
I’m applying to medical school right now and am using this time to broaden my perspective through travel, deepen my language skills in Chinese, and become a more mindful and globally conscious person. I believe very deeply in the power of human centered connection and want to use this opportunity to connect with others in whatever way I can!

I am very interested in teaching English to others! I took Mandarin for 6 years when I was a teenager and have recently started to pick it back up again. While I currently speak at a basic level, I have the goal of being able to speak Mandarin proficiently by the time I become a physician. I hope to use my time traveling as a way to get back into studying the language seriously :)

Teaching: I have tutored people from as a young as 10 to those as old as 95 in a variety of subjects, ranging from music, chemistry, biochemistry, psychology, and biology. After travelling, I plan on working for a year as a middle school teacher in New York City.
Music: I am a classically trained trumpet player and have been playing for the past 13 years. I would be more than happy to teach music performance to those playing other instruments! Unfortunately, I will not have my trumpet with me while traveling.
Caregiving: I have worked as an Aide in an assisted living facility and as a summer camp counselor for kids with neurodevelopmental disorders and loved it. I also did research on caring for older adults for 3 years.
Interpersonal/Communication Skills: I have worked in various administrative positions (research assistant, a resident advisor, etc.) and am confident in my ability to communicate conscientiously and effectively with others.
Writing: I developed strong writing skills in my undergraduate years and enjoy writing about my thoughts on music and film.
Digital skills: I am proficient across various platforms (Microsoft Office, Canva, etc.)

I’m physically active, open to hands-on tasks like gardening, cleaning, or childcare, and I adapt quickly to new environments! I also do need to have internet access while traveling to stay in contact with friends and family.
