Description
ABOUT ME
Hi friends! My name is Noemie. I love to travel because I feel its a great way to contribute positively to the world and enrich my own life. In addition to travel, my biggest passions in life are loving myself & others unconditionally, dance (especially cumbia), nature, spirituality, holistic healing & art (especially murals).
I am a Queer cis woman & my pronouns are she/her. I love my LGBTQ+ family and would love to meet/work with other members of the community &/or allies.
I was born in France to a French mother and American father and grew up in the US. We would go back to France every summer until about 2006.
EXPERIENCE
I have a Bachelor's degree and experience in Social Work, as well as, community organizing, office work, customer service & childcare. In 2009 I volunteered for a theater collective in viña del mar, Chile organizing their library and translating for them. I have also organized gratitude groups and platonic cuddle parties and I was facilitating free form dance circles that promote individual and collective well-being through expressive, unstructured movement guided by feeling rather than choreography or rules when I lived in Cali, Colombia.
WHAT IM LOOKING FOR/CAN OFFER
My priority is to offer my services facilitating the free form dance circles, gratitude groups and cuddle puddles. Other things related to dance would also be great. I strongly believe in the power of community and dance as a tool for healing and my dream is to continue offering these types of spaces & offer other healing/community building spaces as well. .
I'm also open to working for an environmental protection project, teaching English, providing childcare or any other work that fits with my experience and interests.
I am easy to get along with and love having interesting conversations with like minded people. I also have great communication skills and am fluent in English, Spanish and French.
MY PLANS
I lived in Cali, Colombia for 2 years (left in early September) and I absolutely love it, but I no longer have the possibility of a visa so I've decided to return to my other love, Mexico. My plan is to go to Oaxaca and see if I want to live in the city or another part of the state, but I'm also open to other parts of Mexico, especially if I find a really cool project. In January I will decide if I want to stay in Mexico or go back to Cali.
TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
I have been to meditation retreats in plum village, a Buddhist monastery in France founded by Tich Nhat Hanh & sister Chan Khong focused on fostering peace, three times. I also went to my best friend's wedding in India, volunteered and traveled in Chile & visited Bonaire. I was in Mexico for a little over a month in 2012 then went back to live there in 2022. I started off in Zipolite, hated it because of all the toxic positivity, partying, & drugs, so I moved to San Cristobal de las Casas, where I lived for 2 years. As I mentioned, I've also lived in Cali for 2 years. During my time in Colombia I visited Medellin, el Desierto Tatacoa, Santa Marta area (stayed in an ashram near Santa Marta for a month) & more.
SOBRE MÍ
¡Hola, amigos! Me llamo Noemie.
