Description

I'm a semi-liberal, introverted free-spirit with a streak of rigid religion in me, so a mess of contradictions. I'm here on Workaway looking for a slower, more meaningful way of life and the skills to be able to live that that and bring that back to my community. I am on a "sabbatical" of sorts, a "spiritual tourism," perhaps a "life skills apprenticeship program." My current focus in on permaculture, farming, construction (especially natural construction), and community engagement in related fields, as I have big dreams to build a self-sustainable villlage of affordable housing. I love hiking, biking, being outdoors in nature, learning new things, teaching, reading, doing art, and a million other things. I love people, but I need a place I can get away from people at times, whether it's up a tree or on a sleeping mat. I'm never afraid to try something new and ask questions if you trust me enough to let me make a little mess in the process. I speak English and am conversant in Spanish; other than that, I'd love to pick up on some other languages! I am in love with my Catholic faith and am open to learning about other religions; I would prefer to make my way to a Catholic Mass once a week, and I don't mind a hike to get there.

I'm really good at loving people and listening to people. I love to work with children and to teach. I'm a fast learner and hard worker, but I'm just now exploring handyman (handywoman?) type work as things break in my apartment or car, and I'd like to get better at building and repairing things. I am an EXPERT screen printer, but I doubt that's on the list of needed skills! I'm somewhat artistic and pay attention to details, and I'll do anything from admin spreadsheets to hard manual labor. I'm actually a designer by trade, but mostly just like being helpful!

What else ...

Anything that is semi-solo, physically active, or has clear instructions I am up to do or learn; the only time I struggle with hobbies is when I have to just engage with people without a clear purpose. While I love people, I'm actually introverted even to the point of being shy, and it's hard for me to interact if we don't have anything we're trying to accomplish together. I love to engage in meaningful one-on-one conversations and learn someone else's perspective on life!!
