Description
Hi I'm Miriam!
Since finishing school 1.5 years ago, I've been traveling around, learning a lot about myself, other countries, cultures, and nature.I got to know many different ways of traveling:
I spent two months in Spain doing two workaways. Not only did I learn a lot by helping out on the farms, but I also realized that this is a way of traveling that gives me a deeper insight into the culture, the people, and nature. I really enjoyed that. It was also great to meet other volunteers from different countries and have a wonderful, enjoyable, and fun time together.
My three-month bike trip to Northern Europe, all the way to the North Cape, was an impressive experience. I learned a lot about myself there, spent a lot of time alone, and also learned to deal with loneliness. At the same time, traveling by bike brought me closer to the countries, nature, and people than would otherwise have been possible. I met so many nice and helpful people.
At the end of last year, I had the opportunity to organize a circus project at a school in Nepal with a group from Germany. It was an unforgettable experience for me, especially training the children, which was unique. Seeing how every single child found enthusiasm for one of the many circus genres, practiced with enthusiasm, and made progress. Without any pressure to perform, but rather a joint performance at the end where everyone was happy for each other! Nepal as a country impressed me in every way!
A few things about me:
In my free time, I really enjoy doing sport. I have been in a children's and youth circus for many years. This activity gives me a lot in many ways: I can train there myself. I am in contact and exchange with others. Circus has taught me a lot about trust and dealing with others. For some time now, I've been a trainer for children myself. I really enjoy this work! It's exciting to watch the children develop. The special thing about circus is that there is no competition or comparison. Everyone progresses at their own pace.
I enjoy doing creative projects. These can be of very different kinds: a belt that I tie, handicrafts made from paper and wool.
We built our house a few years ago. I helped a lot with this, learned a lot of different skills and discovered the joy of craftsmanship. It was important to us to build naturally and ecologically. As part of this, I did an internship with our clay builder, for example. I enjoy doing manual work, so I also gained experience during an internship with a carpenter who mainly builds Tniy Houses.
My parents have paid attention to an ecological and sustainable lifestyle since I was little. I helped my mother a lot with gardening, so I learned a lot about growing my own food. I am very interested in the topic of sustainable vegetable and fruit growing, in which directions it can go (e.g. permaculture) and how it will be possible to eat and live more sustainably in the future!
I am an open, interested and attentive person. I like to exchange ideas with other people and have in-depth conversations. When I come into a new situation where I don't know the circumstances and the people, I'm a bit shy and reserved at first. However, the more I familiarize myself with the situation, the more extroverted I am.
I'm looking forward to every experience I can have here!!!!

More details about your skills
DE:

Craftsmanship:
During the construction of our house, where we tried to use only sustainable and ecological building materials, I helped in many areas. Therefore, I have basic knowledge in e.g. sanding window sills, insulating walls, insulating the floor, laying wooden floorboards,...
But only in the way we did it. I am very interested in everything to do with building and materials such as wood and would be happy to learn more about this. I also completed a two-week internship with our plasterer who plastered our walls with clay.
Gardening skills:
I have always helped a lot in our garden, where we try to grow as much as possible ourselves. So I think I have a good basic knowledge of this. I did an internship at a Demeter farm for two weeks as part of school, which also gave me an insight into growing vegetables and (a little bit) working with animals (especially chickens) on larger farms. At least bigger than our garden :)
Cooking:
I like to cook with the vegetables and fruit we grow in our garden or help my mother to process and preserve them. I generally like to cook and get creative with what's available!
Social work:
In the social field, I mainly have experience working with children. I have been babysitting regularly since I was 14 years old. I have also been training children's groups for two years in the children's and youth circus where I work. There are children between the ages of 5 and 14 in these groups. I find it really exciting to see the children's progress and to be involved in it. During this time, I have already learned a lot about working with children and have continued to develop.
