Hello, we’re Mena (19) and Mats (20), and we’re a couple from Germany. We’d love to see more of the world and are curious people who enjoy learning new things and sharing our own knowledge with others. We’re both calm and easy-going, and in our free time we enjoy reading, listening to music and spending time in nature. At home, we also like working on DIY projects and have picked up a variety of practical skills that come in handy both around the house and in the garden. Through Workaway, we hope to meet new people, support them with their projects and experience the local culture, nature and everyday life from a different perspective. We’ve always wanted to visit Ireland because of its stunning landscapes, incredible biodiversity and fascinating culture. Mena has already gained some volunteering experience on an organic farm, which inspired us to join Workaway together. We’re looking forward to meeting wonderful people and creating unforgettable memories along the way. :)

Mats:
I’m a student (Industrial Engineering) and I love working in the garden at home. I can build all sorts of things with wood and have a good understanding of it as well as plenty of creative ideas. I also really enjoy general gardening; I’m comfortable using any gardening tool (including axes and chainsaws) and I’m a huge fan of flowers. I’ve also gained some initial experience in laying paving stones. Alongside my studies, I work at a research facility and can also work with metal to a certain extent. My father has taught me a lot too; I can handle simple electrical jobs, do a bit of plastering, have experience with damp walls, and can also paint and wallpaper. As I said, I’m a creative thinker and can find a solution to any problem. I work very conscientiously because I want to achieve a decent result that I’m 100% happy with and, of course, is properly finished :)

Mena:
I graduated from high school last year and will start studying Geography this October. I really enjoy practical outdoor work, especially gardening and being active in nature. I am happy to help with everyday tasks around the garden or house, whether that means planting, weeding, harvesting, watering, pruning, stacking firewood, or clearing areas. Since I grew up with a large garden at home, I am used to helping outside and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. In May 2026, I spent two weeks volunteering on an eco-farm and vineyard on a small Danish island. There, I learned how to take care of grapevines and helped grow many different kinds of plants in the vegetable garden, including strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, parsley, and much more. At home, I also help in our garden and currently take care of a small vegetable bed we created. Together with my father, I have also helped build a natural stone wall in our garden, so I have some experience with simple hands-on projects as well. I would describe myself as reliable, patient, careful, and eager to learn. I usually understand new tasks quickly and always try to complete them carefully and properly. I enjoy working together with others, but I can also work independently once I know what needs to be done. I am open to learning new skills and happy to support wherever help is needed. :)

We love to play games, listening to music and reading books. We enjoy the nature and the fresh air, one of our favourite things, is to watch sunsets :)
