  • Description

We are Max and Mayra and come from Germany—more precisely from Potsdam, a city near Berlin. We live there in a shared apartment because we enjoy sharing our daily lives, our skills, and our time with each other. We shop together, cook vegetarian food, have deep conversations, go on adventures, and host game nights with friends.

We share a common vision: in a few years, we want to live together with our friends in a community on a farm. For us, this makes sense economically, ecologically, and socially. We ask ourselves questions like: How can we raise our children in a community? How can we distribute money and responsibilities fairly? How can we become self-sufficient and grow our own vegetables? How can we live in harmony with nature? How can we create a way of living together that is shaped by love, connection, honesty, goodwill, and kindness? How can we argue constructively and resolve conflicts? These questions are also important in our relationship.

We have been in a wonderful relationship for four years, in which we continuously grow and reflect together. We want to rethink traditional gender roles in a relationship. In the future, we would like to have children and practice equal parenting. Honest communication about our feelings and needs is very important to us.

Two months ago, we made our dream come true: we sublet our apartment and quit our jobs to go traveling. During this time, we have already discovered what truly inspires us about traveling—meeting people from different countries with diverse stories and experiences. We enjoy questioning our worldview and getting to know other ways of life. We want to expand our English vocabulary so we can express ourselves more precisely.

We love nature and the ocean and prefer authentic experiences over crowded tourist attractions. We have realized that constantly moving and relocating can be exhausting. Instead, we would now like to stay longer in one place. We want to get to know the people, their lifestyle, their culture, and their history more deeply, and truly immerse ourselves in local life.

We are looking for a daily routine where we can contribute and work, but also have time to explore, relax, and connect with others. We enjoy cooking and eating together, doing sports together (hiking, swimming, diving, surfing, yoga, fitness, volleyball, etc.), playing games (board games, card games), and planning and carrying out projects (in the garden, in the house, building, painting, etc.). We also love exploring nature and enjoying deep conversations by the campfire in the evening.

For this, we offer ourselves as helping hands. We believe we can learn anything. We are very curious and open to trying and learning new things. We are fit and active and enjoy working outdoors in the garden or on practical projects. Since we both work in social professions in Germany, we enjoy working with and for people, including children and the elderly. Sustainability and caring for the environment are very important to us, and we would like to support this in our work as well.

We can work independently, but also enjoy working in a team. We are able to complete tasks on our own and contribute our own ideas.

What is important to us in a host:
    • Open and honest communication on equal terms
    • Fair working hours and conditions
    • Good English skills
    • Enjoyment of spending time together
    • The opportunity to cook for ourselves or have access to vegetarian home-cooked meals

And now a bit more about each of us individually:

My name is Mayra, I am 24 years old, and I am mostly extroverted, curious, and cheerful. In Germany, I completed my training as an early childhood educator and have worked with children of all ages. I also enjoy learning new things and am willing to familiarize myself with new tasks. What defines me: I can find a solution to almost any problem, I enjoy working in a team, I am reliable, and I place great importance on respectful, non-violent communication.

Hello, my name is Max and I am 28 years old. In Germany, I completed my training as a nurse. I especially enjoyed working with elderly people in shared living communities, and I didn’t enjoy working in hospitals as much. I am an open-minded and cheerful person. Sometimes I need a little time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I am very talkative and outgoing. My English is good enough to communicate, but sometimes I am missing the right words to express myself more clearly.

When it comes to work, I am reliable, committed, and motivated. Respectful interaction and good communication are very important to me.
