  • Description

    Hello!

    About us

    Maxime
I was born and raised in Paris. I love quiet places and nature — but I also appreciate cities with vibrant energy and cultural richness. While I tend to avoid crowds and busy commercial areas (they overwhelm me), I’m always up for visiting museums, exploring architecture, and meeting people.

In this spirit, I recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, along with a training program to become a certified tour guide. I have a strong interest in history and art history, and I enjoy observing, interpreting, and sharing what I discover — guiding feels like a natural fit for me.

I’m naturally curious. I enjoy learning, exchanging ideas, and spending time each day on personal projects — whether it’s language learning, reading, writing, or playing the piano. I’m also quite active: I’d just as gladly wake up at 4 a.m. to hike and watch the sunrise as stay up until 4 a.m. after a night out (I enjoy a drink from time to time). If we share routines or activities, I’ll be happy to join in.

    Claire
I’m currently studying Philosophy. Right now, I’m focusing on improving my language skills , especially German (I’m at a beginner to intermediate level). Learning languages is a challenge for me, but also a real passion.

I’m also deeply interested in art, particularly cinema. I love cooking (mainly plant-based meals), and I enjoy creative hands-on activities like painting and DIY. I try to be a “slow traveler”: I move mostly by train, on foot, or by carpooling, and I take time to explore local history, customs, and landscapes. I also enjoy road trips, by car or bike. I believe this way of traveling leads to more authentic, memorable experiences. I’d also be happy to share what I know about my own culture and language.

    Our Project
We are a couple from Paris, and we plan to stay in a German-speaking city for four weeks. Our main objective is to improve our German through full immersion ; we want to speak and hear the language as much as possible.

In exchange for accommodation, we are happy to help. We are responsible, motivated, and flexible. Whether it’s housework, childcare, gardening, cooking, language exchange, or other daily tasks, we’re ready to lend a hand.

We are especially looking for a host who is open to speaking German with us. We’re convinced that language is best learned through shared experiences — conversations, meals, and small everyday moments.

We’re both enthusiastic about this project: combining language learning, cultural exchange, and useful support. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions ; we’d be glad to talk with you.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Maxime & Claire

More details about my language interests
Yes! French is our mother tongue, so if you're interested in practicing it, we’ll be happy to help. Maxime, in particular, has studied German grammar extensively ; even though he’s not a native speaker, he’s able to explain many concepts clearly and can help with learning the language. Claire is at a lower level in German and still needs structured lessons and daily practice ; that’s one of the reasons we’re looking to stay in a German-speaking environment: to immerse ourselves, take classes, and improve through daily conversations and real-life situations.

  • More details about your skills

In general, I'm comfortable using my hands to cook, build, create, etc. Instead of having a professional skill, I have a good intuition for the empirical activities to be used by hand.

I like to be with children if they are not addicted to screens.

I can share my knowledge of philosophy, history and languages (French, English and German).
