Description
Hello, my name is Maurice, and I am from Germany.
Two years ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Kofu, Japan. This experience deeply inspired me to return for a Working Holiday in Japan. I would love to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture, customs, and traditions, while exploring various regions across the country.
During my Working Holiday, I gained experience working in a guesthouse, on an organic farm, at an English kids camp, and in cultural exchange programs with kids and families. I am always eager to learn new skills and make new experiences.
All in all, I’m grateful to be part of this international community and I’m excited to meet new people, support my hosts and experience Japan from different perspectives.

I really enjoy learning and exchanging languages. I’ve done an online language exchange in English and German, and I also take part in a Japanese-English language café at university. I passed the JLPT N4 test this summer. Learning Japanese allows me to immerse myself in this diverse culture and build friendships with Japanese locals. It also helped me to gain a deeper understanding of both the challenges and joys of of learning a language. My mother is French, so I’ve always had a connection to the language, and I also studied French at school. I’d be happy to help with German or English – and I’m always up for practicing Japanese!

More details about your skills
I studied Social Work and worked as an Early Childhood Educator in a kindergarten. I supported children aged 3 to 10 through daily care, activities and holiday programs.
I have experience in:
– childcare (ages 2–10)
– supporting people with disabilities
– senior care
– school supervision and sports activities
– restaurant kitchen work in Japan
In 2023, I studied abroad in Kofu, Japan, joined a university volleyball club, and worked in a local Hōtō restaurant. By making international friends, exploring cultural and natural sites, and immersing myself in the culture, I developed a deep fondness for Japan. As part of a scholarship as a Social Media Ambassador, I wrote a blog about my study abroad experience, created a podcast and produced content for Instagram.
I speak English, French and Japanese. I enjoy meditation, volleyball, and learning languages. I’m reliable, open-minded, and happy to help – whether with children, farming, kitchen work, or cultural projects.

What else ...
I like reading Japanese novels by Japanese authors. I am also really interested in Zen Buddhism, so I visit temples when I can. I love being in nature, rural life, and I’m fascinated by traditional festivals. All these things help me connect more deeply with Japanese culture beyond just language and work.
