Description
Hi there, I’m Matt, a fun loving, a full time traveller from Sweden. Although, its more then 20 years since I actually lived there.
Through the years since I left Sweden I have been living a very free, nomadic inspired life. Slow travelled around 40 countries, lived and worked for longer periods in some of the countries visited. Learning about the countries, its culture, foods and traditions. Travelling and living like this has brought me to many beautiful places and has given me many amazing memories.
In 2011 I started my first hitchhiking trip, by trying my luck thumbing my way from Portugal to The Netherlands. It took 48 hours and 5 rides to complete and opened up a whole new world of fun ways to travel. Since then hitchhiking has been my main way to travel.
Food and cooking has always been one of my greatest passions. Never went to a culinary school, but had the luxury of working in a kitchen with really good chefs who taught me everything I needed to know about how to become a good cook. But, the kitchen life where I was thought cooking requires 80-100 hour weeks which killed the fun in cooking so I quit and brought my skills out on the road instead. Since then I have been cooking and making people happy with foods in hostels, pubs and bars, farms, Airbnb's and many other random places. I can cook anything, vegan, vegetarian, meat, fish and poultry.
Next to cooking I love spending time with animals, especially dogs! I had the privilege to spend some time in a dog shelter in Greece through workaway in 2024, getting lots of experience working with dogs and also handling dogs that need more attention due to reactive behaviours, anxiety, fear and so on. There was a professional dog trainer there around the shelter who was happy to share his knowledge.
Through the years of traveling I have always found ways of being in touch with my creative sides through DIY, restoration, building new things out of old things and know my way around most of the building trades.

Matt was a big help during his entire stay, which turned out to be two and a half months. He is used to volunteering and comes with a good amount of routine and experience. You don't have to explain him much, he understands quickly how the place is working, which tasks are there to do and he works independently. He covered a big variety of… read more
The task varies and Sarah always tries to accommodate your own whishes of how you can help the project forward and also the animals.

Mat is definitely a person who likes to get things done and likes to see the results at the end of a day of work. When he starts something, he wants to finish it. This mindset is very valuable and this way we got some important progress while he was around. For his help we are very… read more
The idea of the project is an amazing idea to rejuvenate and populate abandoned houses and farm, starring with the house and surrounding areas they have now.
