Description
Hi! I'm Mattia, a 31-year-old Italian traveler who has decided to take a long-overdue break from his career in movie post-production. I'm giving myself the opportunity to experiment and discover the world through travel, and maybe even improve my French.
During my university years I had the opportunity to spend time far from Italy, my home country, wandering around Europe and living through experiences that enriched me in countless ways. In recent years I’ve come to the conclusion that helping others and contributing to meaningful projects gives me a real sense of purpose, and so here I am, back on track to see what's out there.
What brings me happiness: helping people, cooking for others, nature, animals, flowers, taking photos, talking about movies, being creative, having deep-late night conversations.
What I can help you with:
- Cooking (especially Italian cousine)
- Italian/English conversation and teaching
- Tutoring kids, helping with homework
- Hospitality and cleaning
- Elderly companionship
- Places manteinance
- Video editing
- Art projects
I love being outdoors—whether it's taking a walk in nature, helping in a garden, or simply soaking up the sun. I've always found peace and satisfaction in outdoor life, close contact with animals, and rural settings. I am really keen to learn professional tools and ways of working in gardens.
I’m interested in staying longer in one place, building trust, and contributing consistently rather than moving quickly from place to place. Travel for me is about learning through daily life and meaningful exchange while being respectful of the spaces and cultures in which I immerse myself.
Working in a team, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another are values that I strongly believe in. I’m used to taking responsibility, working with routines, and supporting the daily flow of shared environments. Being reliable, present, and attentive to people comes naturally to me.
I value clear communication, mutual respect, and calm collaboration.
P.S.
I really really love cooking and, if you are going to host me, you are bound to enjoy deep sessions of Italian cuisine and cultural exchanges around the dining table. Food is something I deeply love and value as a way to experience others.

Native Italian speaker and really fluent in English. Although I don’t have the training of a formal language teacher, I’d be glad to help with conversation practice and basic grammar. As a learner, I’m very interested in French. Right now I’m between beginner and intermediate level. I’d really like to improve my level through daily conversations and grammar correction.

More details about your skills
I’m a multi-skilled, curious, and motivated person who learns quickly and enjoys discovering new tasks. Community life has taught me teamwork, responsibility, communication, and flexibility.
My professional background is in digital video post-production, which is not often required in many Workaway activities, but it has given me strong computing and IT skills: troubleshooting, basic programming, and hardware/software maintenance.
I've worked in many client-based environments, so I have experience in fast-paced settings and in close contact with customers.
I am not afraid of manual jobs and hard labour, as I have a lot of experience on farms and construction sites. However, due to a health condition, I cannot work long hours doing heavy lifting
I've worked in summer camps and as a nanny, so I have plenty of experience with children and handling logistics. Helping at home with all kinds of housework and chores comes naturally to me—I also really love cooking and organizing meals.
