Description
Hi, I’m Martje! I’m a visual artist and teacher from Belgium. After living in the Netherlands for seven years, I decided to leave everything behind and start a new adventure: solo traveling through Central America. Since the end of June 2025, I’ve been on the road. I spent three months in Mexico where I had different Workaway experiences, including working in a hostel, painting a mural in a living room, looking after an Airbnb property and staying with a local family.
Back in the Netherlands, I started in 2019 as a street art tour guide. Alongside that, I designed and hosted my own workshops and classes in painting, drawing and graffiti. I have worked with many groups, from children and university students to elders in community centers. As an artist, my creative outlet is very important to me and I love leaving a mark everywhere I go. I have also worked as an independent artist for the past five years, combined with teaching.
People often describe me as warm, creative, open-minded, witty, grounded and sensitive. I am independent and entrepreneurial, but always eager to learn from others. I value deep conversations just as much as spontaneous moments.

I am a creative and hands-on person with a diverse skill set. As an artist and educator, I design and teach workshops, paint murals and guide street art tours. I also enjoy content creation and have some experience building websites with WordPress. Both in my creative work and in life I thrive on new experiences and love learning new skills. I believe in constant self-improvement and staying curious.
Beyond art, I have a background in hospitality and even find cleaning genuinely relaxing. I am passionate about plants and animals, and I also have knowledge of astrology and tarot. Yoga is another practice that I enjoy and that helps me stay grounded.
I also have strong social skills and enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life. I am comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and I know how to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I love sharing stories, listening to others, and building genuine connections.
Above all, I am a quick thinker, a problem solver and always eager to learn from the people and environments around me.
