  • Description

We are Marlene and Leonard, two students from Germany (Paderborn). We are good friends and looking for new experiences, adventures and interesting projects and therefore places to spent time abroad in the UK . ☺️

I’m Marlene, 20 years old, from Germany (Paderborn) and I study education to become an art and English teacher.
I moved away from home to a bigger city when I was just 18 years old. This has had a huge, but very positive impact on me. I needed to be independent in order to live on my own and open-minded to find new friends and to adapt to a new place and way of life.
I really like the city I live in, I love to hang out with my friends and I like my field of study, but I am on the other hand extremely excited to spent my time abroad. It was always a dream of mine to get to meet new people from other countries, to learn more about other cultures (especially the culture of the uk, because I’ve heard so much about it during my time at the university) .
Im looking forward for new adventures. I would say, that I’m a very creative person (that’s probably why I study art) and I love to craft and draw. I like to write, especially postcards to people all around the world. In addition to that, I really like baking (which my roommates really enjoy) and I am a vegetarian. I would love to go on more hikes in the future (I’m a big fan of nature), but in general I would appreciate to get to know other peoples hobbies as well, maby I can pick up on something that I didn’t try out or knew about before!
I am a fan of animals, especially cats and I don’t think that there are animals that I don’t like. I also really enjoy working with people. As I am becoming a teacher, I would say that one of my strengths in this regard is to explain things to others.
Other strengths of mine are probably my punctuality (which is something I really value about myself), my creativity and my openness for new adventures and tasks! In addition I would consider myself as an advanced English speaker (as I’m also studying English as a language).

    -----------

Hello, my name is Leonard and I am 22 years old. I am living in Paderborn, Germany and attend Paderborn University to become a teacher for secondary schools for the subjects English and Arts. In my free time I love getting creative with different materials as well as playing board games with my friends. Another hobby of mine is cooking vegan or vegetarian dishes as I am vegetarian myself. My friends describe me as an open-minded, caring and patient person.
I am really looking forward to getting to know new people and getting more comfortable with actually speaking English as I will definitely need that in my future career. I am also looking forward to getting to know work I have not necessarily done before. I have experiences with being a volunteer because I have done a volunteer year at a school in Germany and was able to look into all the different aspects of that school. That year really helped me getting to know my strengths which include teamwork, organising myself, being punctual and finding creative ways to slove problems. I am good with children and animals but I am unfortunately afraid of dogs. My favourite animals are rabbits and cats.

  • More details about your skills

We are both advanced English speaker, as we study the language at a university. Through internships at different schools and daycare, we both already have experience in working with students (age 6-18) and other skills such as teamwork, patience and the ability to organise.
As our families both live in rural areas and have gardens, we’ve learned the basic skills of gardening and maintenance work from an early age on.
We both live on our own (in shared apartments) and are therefore very independent with skills like cooking, cleaning and easy repairing.
In general we are capable to a learn new skills fairly easily and are also looking forward to it.
