For me travelling means much more than spending your holidays on a beach resort under a sunshade, drinking tropical cocktails every day. Travelling means growth, it means new experiences and adventures, sometimes it means also inconveniences and struggle, but in the end, it is always going to make you stronger and wiser. Travelling is the only way to really get to know other cultures and other people’s lives, it`s the only way to be able to understand this world.
And therefore, I joined Workaway. I want to get to know other people’s lives, help them by sharing my knowledge and skills, in exchange for new experiences and memories, which are the most precious gift you can get.

My name is Marion, I am a 21-year-old girl from Germany and currently studying Cultural- and Communication Sciences in the north of Italy.
You can describe me as a very open minded and ambitious person, always looking for new adventures and experiences. I am eagerly looking forward to improving my skills and learn new ones next to help others by sharing my knowledge.

I am kind of a very active person. I love sports (my great passion is archery) and I enjoy physical work as well. I adore spending time outdoors in the nature, going for long walks or hikes and my last workaway-experiences showed me how great it is to work in the forest or on the fields. Since I am an absolute animal-lover, I love spending time, taking care, and working with all kinds of them. Especially the work with horses is a field I am truly interested in and I am always looking forward to gaining new experiences and improving my skills. I am especially interested in horsemanship and horseback archery.
On the other side I am a throughout creative person. I adore reading all kind of books, watching movies, going to the theatre and the opera. I love listening to music and playing the violin.
But my probably greatest passion is writing. I am writing all kinds of text, like prose, poems, short stories, and I am even working on two bigger projects.

Even though I might seem a little introvert and calm at first sight, I am more a very curious and open-minded person, always looking forward to learning new things and get to know new people and their stories and attitudes towards all kinds of topics. Cannot wait to get to know you and your stories! =)

“I´m going on an adventure!”- this is what I am always thinking when I am beginning a new journey, always having this picture in my mind how Bilbo Baggins left his comfy hobbit whole to start the probably greatest adventure of his life. I wasn´t expecting how Bilbo-Like this Workaway-experience was going to be and that I would even be able to … read more travel to Middle-earth.
I stayed for one month with Hana, Bagr and the three (soon four) boys and I am so thankful for all those amazing experiences I have made there. I felt welcome right away. The whole family is really kind and uncomplicated. The children are very independent, well-behaved and smart and it was always fun watching them play. Next to them I met plenty of other new and inspiring people.
The work felt never to hard and I had quite a lot of free time. Hana and Bagr are easy-going and flexible and I could always choose when I was going to do which tasks. My main task was taking care of the horses. Bringing them hay and water once a day and mucking out the paddock. Next to this I helped in the kitchen or cut the grass in the yard. There was always something that had to be done.
Hana taught me a lot about horses and how to work with them and we had plenty of nice conversations about various topics. She´s is such an intelligent and inspiring person and knows so many things. I really enjoyed those evening we were just sitting in the kitchen and talking or watching some Strange 😉 movies xD
Furthermore, I even got the opportunity to take part at the Rhovanion-LARP that took place in the middle of August. LARP means Life-Action-Role-Playing and you in very short you can describe it as playing an Computer-Game in real. It took place in a forest, where medieval tents and camps where built and for three days we pretended being in Middle-Earth. We walked around in costumes like for example elves, hobbits or humans and each of us played his own character. There was a story we played, many orcs we had to fight, lots of party at the camps of the hobbits. It was just an absolutely unique and amazing adventure!
My time there was just incredibly awesome, and I could write so much more about it, but then this would become a novel and not just a feedback. XD Hana and Bagr are amazing people and it was great to see how they are realizing their dreams and literally living in another world. I was able to learn many, many things from them.

Marion was the best Workaway ever. We have had some, all very nice, but Marion has been adopted by our family right away. She is such a nice Person a wundervool human.
