Description
Hello!
My name is Marie, I’m 28 years old and I come from Lyon, France. I’m currently taking a break from my job (at the university) to travel for a few months, discover new places, and offer my help to people who might need it.
I would describe myself as creative, sociable, and open-minded. Even though I’m still improving my English (sorry for that), I enjoy having conversations, meeting new people, and learning from others.
I love animals (especially cats!) and I’m very active: I practice running, trail running, hiking, boxing, weight training, and even a bit of climbing. In my free time, I also enjoy pottery, painting, and drawing.
I grew up in a small village where my father is a farmer, so I’m familiar with working with my hands and I’m not afraid of physical tasks.
I’m excited to share experiences, learn new skills, and contribute wherever I can!

More details about your skills
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics, and a Master’s degree in Communication and Marketing. Over the past years, I have worked in four very different organizations within the communication field: a music school, a bank, an accounting firm, and now a university.
To support my studies, I also took on many student jobs: waitress in a restaurant, factory worker, cashier at a swimming pool, camp counselor, and even cleaning breast pumps in a hospital. These diverse experiences taught me how to be flexible, responsible, and ready to take on any task.
Through my professional background, I have developed strong skills in communication, organization, creativity, and teamwork. I am comfortable managing projects, creating content, and adapting to different audiences. Thanks to my varied student jobs, I am also used to practical and manual work, providing customer service, and working efficiently under pressure.
I would describe myself as adaptable, curious, sociable, and reliable – qualities that help me fit easily into new environments and contribute positively to a team.
I enjoy learning new skills and I am not afraid of hard work, whether it’s physical tasks, creative projects, or helping with daily routines.

What else ...
I am also passionate about board games and I’m always excited to learn a new one. I really enjoy movies and series, especially science fiction and fantasy, but I also love a good thriller, action film, or even a romantic story. In winter, I love skiing – and I enjoy the season in general because it means Christmas! Coming from a big family has probably made me very sociable and comfortable around people. I also love cooking and learning how to prepare new dishes: lasagna is definitely my specialty!

We got a lot of work done in their garage and garden.
Despite my struggles with English, they were always very patient and encouraging.
I learnt a great deal from them.
All New Zealanders are kind, but I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a more generous couple than them.

Marie joined into all family activities and appeared to enjoy any work that we were doing, including tidying of the garage and labouring in the garden. Marie could turn her hands to anything and not just follow… read more
