  • Description

Hi!! We are Lola and Jonas, a couple from Germany!
We met while working on the same board game and have been each other's number one supporter and life accomplice ever since. We both share the dream of moving to Norway in the future and are developing a videogame based on Norse mythology. We have a many friends from different countries who we talk to online regularly, so connecting to others and exchanging language & cultural knowledge is something we enjoy a lot!

I'm Leonie (24), but everyone just calls me Lola! :)
I first heard about Workaway many years ago through the German-Finnish youtuber Taimi. She spent some time workaway-ing in Sweden and documented her experience online. Ever since then the thought of doing that myself one day has not left my mind, especially since I thrive on learning new languages.
I have studied media design and love diving into different creative projects, ranging from illustration, setting up an art business, over indie game marketing to developing my own games!
I draw a lot of my inspiration from nature, different landscapes and folklore in general. My wish is to visit places where I can take in the wisdom of the environment and its people and bottle it up into lovely inspiration jars filled with good memories and a better understanding of the world around me.
My job field allows me to work anywhere as a digital nomad and I want to make the best of it.

    Hei, I'm Jonas (34)!
The driest fact upfront: I absolutely LOVE analyzing and solving complex problems of any kind. While that might not sound like the most exciting quality on its own, combining it with my love for games turns me into quite the vivid game designer, programmer and - well - gamer. :D
Im currently aspiring to become a full-fledged indie dev and launching a studio together with Lola at my side.
I also cherish sound design and music! I actively sing in a choir, I played piano for several years of my life and I'm learning to play the guitar.

When it comes to sports, I prefer agility and teamwork over pure strength or fierce competition. Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, archery and badmindton are among my favourite ways to stay active.
Im not sure how and when it started but over the last ~10 years I've grown more and more fascinated by Norway. It's folklore, nature, language and people keep drawing me in.
Luckily, I found Lola who has a the same passion for the North, so our plans aligned and we intend to move there in the near future! Consequently our first game will also be inspired by Norse mythology.

Another fact: Previously, I founded a start-up called HYBR-Games. Its focus on hybrid board games was exciting but ultimately limiting in terms of design possibilities. It just didn’t “scratch the itch” the same way fully digital games do. ^^

  • More details about your skills

Jonas has experience chopping wood, shoveling snow, and handling basic house maintenance. He's an efficient & creative tinkerer who enjoys finding solutions for hands-on problems. With a toolbox in hand he can live out his engineering-personality. :D He also owns a driver's license and feels very comfortable driving, and as a programmer he’s happy to help with any software or general tech-related tasks.

Lola has a great attention to detail, likes taking on cleaning and crafting tasks and has helped her grandma with gardening and painting garden sheds over many summers. She is also a plant lover and looking forward to learning new gardening skills. She cares deeply for both humans and animals and wants everyone to feel safe and happy. She doesn't have a driver's license yet, but has completed the first aid course, so she can assist in that regard. Thanks to her jobs she is experienced with photography, writing, drawing, social media and technology.

We're both looking forward to helping with cooking, baking, cleaning, handling animals, furniture tasks, errands and technology. Both of us had many different pets over the span of our lives and are most experienced with dogs. We dogsit 1-3 dogs regularly at our home.

Our time together has made us a great team built on trust and strong communication. We can work independently as well as follow instructions.
