Description
Hey! I am Lauren from Yorkshire in the North of England. I am a super positive individual who is always laughing and enthusiastic to meet new people. Back home I love nature, animals, walking, camping, dance , and making time for people in my life. I love cooking and I am a vegetarian. I grew up in the countryside with animals, including cats, dogs, horses and chickens.
I have loads of experience in jobs ranging from hospitality (e.g. working in bars), and previously worked for a charity, mainly working with asylum seekers and refugees. I am motivated by creating positive change in my community, and I am very passionate about human rights and social justice. I am currently travelling round the UK for the summer in a van working in a coffee trailer at music festivals. Following this I am looking to travel in South East and South Asia. I wish to do this via Workaway to meet local people and give back in anyway I can whilst travelling.
I am super hard working, open minded and flexible - willing to get my hands dirty and help out where I can.

Over the years I have worked and volunteered in the UK charity sector - including helping to teach English to asylum seekers/refugees, cooking for up to 50 people in need of a meal and advocacy work. Empathy and kindness are my biggest values, and I am approachable and a good listener. I have a degree in Politics and History, and a Masters in Global Development and Gender. I have a very keen interest in sustainability and a slower way of living.
I also have experience working in fast paced, customer service jobs and have picked up various skills from this. For example team work, working in high pressure environments and working with people.
In my spare time I have gained skills in animal care and I love to garden, especially growing vegetables- my tomatoes were very successful last year! I love foraging and I am trying to gain more knowledge on this.

I love to read - both fiction and non fiction! I love learning new things. I enjoy being round people, whether it's learning a new game, cooking together or sat round a fire at night. I am interested in culture and love the arts and history. Whilst I do love being in a bustling city and trying new foods and things to do, my happy place is in nature. I love to swim (although I am very slow) in lakes and at the beach.
