I love to learn, and travel has always been my way of understanding the world through real, hands-on experiences. I’m happiest outdoors—whether that’s working on the land, caring for animals, hiking, or simply soaking up the fresh air. Being active and spending my days outside gives me energy, and I really enjoy physical work where I can see the results of my effort.

I’m naturally curious and open-minded, and I love getting to know people from different backgrounds. Hearing stories, sharing meals, and learning about local ways of life are some of my favourite parts of travelling. I value connection, but I’m also very at peace in quiet places surrounded by nature.

This year I’m travelling to slow down, learn new practical skills, and contribute meaningfully to the places I stay. I enjoy being part of a team, but I’m also confident working independently once shown what’s needed. I take pride in doing a job well, staying organised, and pitching in wherever I can—whether that’s animal care, gardening, cleaning, cooking, or general outdoor work.

I'm a fast learner, a hard worker, and someone who’s always willing to roll up my sleeves and try something new. I’m a keen gardener with some hands-on experience, an able cook, and a happy cleaner—I actually enjoy cleaning and take pride in leaving spaces tidy and cared for. I don’t shy away from getting my hands dirty.

I love being around animals and have experience looking after dogs, cats and chickens. I’m comfortable working independently with clear instructions, as well as being part of a team. I enjoy meeting people and getting to know them, but I also value time to myself—especially when I can spend it outdoors.

Professionally, I’m a Geography teacher taking a year off. I love teaching just as much as I love learning; sharing knowledge, asking questions, and helping people grow are things that genuinely energise me. Outside the classroom, I teach young people how to hike and am a keen hiker myself, happiest on long trails or exploring new landscapes.

Before teaching, I spent more than a decade in tourism—working in hostels, running reception, managing bookings, handling customer service, and supporting marketing efforts including social media. I also managed an organisation that ran experiential learning and educational travel programs for young people. Through that work I became commercially minded, organised, and skilled at creating simple systems that make things run smoothly behind the scenes.

I can cook and menu plan for large groups, including those with dietary requirements, and I enjoy working in kitchens as much as I do outdoors. I’m also a competent boat crew member, able to stand watches (including night watches) and support general sailing operations.

Overall, I bring a positive attitude, good common sense, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine love for learning, people, and new environments.
