Description
Hi! I’m Laura, from Germany. I’m spending a year in South America, hoping to spend most of my time outdoors, in nature, the mountains, and around inspiring people. I enjoy physical work, simple living, and learning new things wherever I go.
I’ve always loved carpentry and working on houses (I once restored a historical timber-framed house in Germany using ecological materials). I also like working in the garden or outside generally and would love to take care of animals, having grown up in the countryside next to a cow farm.
In my free time, you’ll usually find me climbing, hiking, or exploring nature.
I’m a responsible, passionate and easily excited person who enjoys good company but also values quiet moments. I’ve always loved traveling alone and look forward to rediscovering myself and surroundings again and again, connecting with local people and sharing meaningful experiences.

More details about your skills
I grew up in a house that my parents restored over a decade, and I helped with everything from building garden walls to cutting branches, painting, and laying wooden floors. Later, I restored a historical timber-framed house together with my ex-partner, which included replacing wooden beams, laying clay bricks, plastering with clay, and insulating walls with wood-fibre panels. I have always loved working with wood and have built some furniture myself, such as my bed. I also converted my van into a campervan, which I’m very sad to leave behind.
I’m good with animals, especially dogs and cats, having grown up with both. I also once worked on our neighbour’s cow farm, where I helped clean the milking kitchen. I love being outdoors, especially in the mountains, and would be happy to help with anything related to mountain refuges or outdoor projects. In addition, I worked for many years as a waitress to finance my studies, gaining experience in bars, hotels, and restaurants.
Beyond that, I’m also academically trained. I studied Psychology and hold a PhD in clinical neuroscience, having worked as a scientist for several years. This background has made me resilient, structured, organized, and very good at problem solving.
I speak German and English fluently, which I imagine I could also teach. I’m learning Spanish to communicate better during my stay in Argentina.

What else ...
I love playing the board game Risk, sitting around a bonfire with a good dry red wine, listening to classical music ( I love Bach!) and reading books.
Most of all, I love learning and never want to stop. This is one of the reasons I started this journey at almost 30 years old. I’m fascinated by the new, the unpredictable, and the challenges that make me grow.
