Hi! My names Lachie, I'm 23 years old. I come from beautiful Australia. I have almost finished my medicine (doctor) degree. I am pausing university and leaving Australia in 2026 because it is time to see the world!!

I did the same thing in 2024. It was incredible. I’ve meditated in Buddhist monasteries, hiked to Everest base camp and hitchhiked all through Iceland. I did Workaway's on French farmland, at childhood NGO's in Senegal and with an artist in Togo. I loved it! So I am back for more.

My strengths:
I speak English as my first language.
I have Workaway experience in developed and developing countries alike.
I have a strong desire to meet people who can teach me about their craft, which in turn gives me a greater appreciation for the world. I will work alongside you; that is why I am travelling!
I am almost a doctor (I've passed my final exam).

I play piano, row, meditate, paint, and bring the unique Australian charm. I speak ~B1 French. (B2 within a week with good teaching :)))

More details about my language interests
I want to learn French because I aspire to work for Doctors Without Borders / medecins sans frontieres when I am a qualified doctor. There are many areas, specifically in Africa, with a need for French speakers and thus I see French as a worthwhile endeavour in order to work in these places when I am older. Therefore the more I can learn now the better!

I've worked 6 Workaways. Three in France predominantly in gardening and home maintenance. I worked with an NGO for street children for 1 month in Senegal. I spent one week with an artist in rural Togo. I am comfortable with the weird and wonderful experiences - that is what I'm seeking!

I’ve tutored and coached children, young teens, and early adults from 10-22, boys and girls, across medicine, debating and rowing.

I’ve spent 5 years working in hospitals as a medical student so I have medical training. As a result I am comfortable speaking with all sorts of people from all walks of life.

I’ve spent months camping on my own outside so I’m super comfortable with living basically, being creative, and being outdoors all day with a smile.

My passion for sustainable gardening and living is growing and that’s what I want to seek out!

I do vipassana meditation for 2 hours a day every day. This is something I am very passionate about and will be doing during our stay! I would love to teach meditation if that is something you would like to talk about.
