Hi! My name is Leah. I was born in the United States and grew up on the West Coast, in Washington state, before moving to the Midwest for university.
I am an avid adventurer who loves travel, experience new places and being outside. I completed my studies for a degree in journalism a couple years ago and have been working in higher education since my graduation.

I am passionate about meeting people in all corners of the world and reflecting on what our shared humanity can teach one another.

My hobbies are mainly centered around being outside exploring whether that be in a deep forest or a busy, new city. I love to walk, run and hike. I also enjoy reading and writing - especially about my travels and experiences. I have a curious mind and am interested in the culture and history of everywhere I find myself. I love to meet new people and learn about their lives and connect about shared interests.

More details about my language interests
I am super interested in language exchanges. I find a deep desire to learn the languages I hear when I am traveling, in an effort to engage better and more authentically with the local community. I would love to start teaching English as well. Meeting people, of all ages, who are learning English on my travels is such a joy for me. I am always happy to practice English with anyone I meet. I hope to continue working in my Spanish language, which I spent seven years learning throughout school, and also broaden my Turkish language because of my love for the country. During my travels through Central Asia, I was really inspired to learn Russian and hope to one day speak fluently.

I grew up on my family's organic garlic farm in Washington State and thus have experience in many aspects of growing and harvesting produce — and other farming duties including manual labor.

Throughout high school and university I worked in various service industry positions as a host, barista and server. I am confident speaking with customers and managing multiple duties at the same time.

My professional expertise involves the recruitment, communication, research, organizing and marketing fields. Most recently, I worked as the recruitment director for a university's undergraduate journalism program. I oversaw 40 student staff members and managed the strategic recruitment plan to increase the number of students enrolled.

I studied journalism at university and consider myself quite proficient in writing and in the English language, happy to offer my abilities in teaching English.
