Hola!!
We are Matthew (the English one) and Kirsty (the South African/Swedish one). We met in 2016 whilst working as waiters in a restaurant just south of London – as it happens, we were both saving money for some independent travels. Fast forward a few years, and we have once again been working hard saving money for this big adventure!
It started with a desire to visit Patagonia and fulfil Matt's Geography-student dream of seeing the great glaciers. Kirsty then added Peru to the mix in order to follow her wish to venture along the Inca Trail. From there it was impossible to not let the plan evolve into a 6 month trip exploring all that South America has to offer; from its very South to its most North, from the mountains of Chile to the beaches of Brazil, and everything in between. We are SO excited!!
A little bit about our personalities and what makes us tick … we are both very positive, chatty and enthusiastic people. Our ideal day would involve being active and adventuring outside, rounded off with laughs and chats over drinks and good food. All our energy in life comes from interacting with people, and we’ve been learning Spanish for the last year to help enable us to speak with, and learn from, as many people as possible.
MATTHEW: I worked as a data analyst for a British clothing and food shop. I spent my days analysing numbers to help make their website/app as good as it can be. I am OBSESSED with all sports. I like to keep fit by regularly playing grass hockey and going for runs, but I also love to watch football, rugby, golf, Formula 1 (honestly anything), as well as try out new sports. I am hoping to attend my first rodeo, and perhaps join some local run clubs/football matches along our travels.
KIRSTY: I worked as a design project manager and illustrator for a studio that designs labels for wines all over the world. I am OBSESSED with animals (they are magic in physical form). I love that there are so many ways to live life, and there are no rules on which way is the happiest, correct or most fulfilling. What I love less is that out of the many ways to live life, we'll only get to explore one in our own lifetime. So having the chance to live vicariously through the people I meet, even if just for a blink in time, is incredible.
We are both open to every type of work, in any location, for any amount of time. We’re really keen to learn new skills, see places off the main path, and meet/speak with as many new humans (or animals) as possible! Looking forward to meeting you 😊Interests
