Description
I did my first volunteering teaching English abroad when I was 18 in Moshi, Tanzania. I caught the travel bug and garnered a tender feeling for Africa and did a BA in African Studies at SOAS in London and did some English teaching abroad during summers in Thailand and Ethiopia. Then I lived in Sudan for 18 months teaching English in universities in Khartoum and Atbara.
Needless to say I have travelled around the world and have been to around 80 countries give or take. I have done numerous volunteering work; hostel work in Sabah, Malaysia and Ramallah, Palestine; organic rice farming in Malaysia; construction work in Mexico, and permaculture in Mexico.
I am always up for learning new skills and improving upon the skills I already have. Wherever I travel I go with a library and am well known for leaving numerous books as I travel. I read about the places I have travelled to and places that I have yet to visit. Maybe I will leave some books at your place! -

Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent

German: Beginner
Spanish: Beginner
French: Beginner
Swahili (Kiswahili): BeginnerMore details about my language interests
I have studied various languages in my past. I have studied Arabic intensively and earned a diploma in Arabic from the language school in SOAS back in 2011. I can't really speak it well enough anymore but I can read it to varying degrees. I of course studied French in High School and I can still understand a lot of what I read. Varying levels of German and Spanish as I have spent lots of time in Germany and Mexico. I studied various African languages in my past including Swahili, Amharic, Oromo, and Somali and though I can't communicate in them if I am around them I tend to regain a few phrases and words. Additionally I was raised hearing Urdu from the Indian side of my family and can make out some choice phrases, words, and also cuss words. I am always interested in learning more about the languages I have come across as well as some that I have a passing familiarity with such as Turkish, Persian, and Russian. -
