  • Description

    Hello,
I'm Julie, born in Brittany in France (north west), crepes maker, also have origins from Caribbean Islands, dreamy, and traveller. :-)
About me, I am a pretty easy going person who love meeting new people from all over the world. I am a crepes maker and I like making crepes for people I meet. I created a blog during my travels about making crepes for all the people I meet along the way everywhere I go and I will be happy to make some for you as well! As I created a blog, I love writting, I practice photography since my childhood, I started doing yoga during my first trip in Japan and I keep doing it from time to time. I also like to dance. I used to attend to african dance class when I was in Melboune but also in France. I found it really fun with a lot of energy and I love it. I am also passionnate about mangas, anime and Japan. It was my dream to go one day over there and I did it! I like to learn new languages like japanese. I used to study it in high school and university but it is not enough to have a real conversation with a native speaker unfortunately. I'm also learning about how to play ukulele. I am still a beginner though. And of course, I love travelling ;-).
My first time overseas was in 2013, where I've travelled first in New Zealand for one year. I've been after in Australia, Thaïland and Japan as a tourist for the 3 of them.
I've been in Scotland for 1 month and a half in 2016 where I've worked on a christmas market as a crepes maker. Really hard work, but amazing experience!
I've also travelled to New York in September 2016, for the first time of my life, for one week with one of my friend I've met in Tokyo.
I was travelling in 2017 in Japan for 6 months with a working holiday visa. I've worked as a volunteer in differents places, and I've met and lived with japanese people. I've been able to get to know more about them and their culture.
I also travelled in Hawaii for few weeks where I volunteered in an eco-feminist community named Hedonisia in Big Island.
In November 2017 I was in Australia where I've worked as a crepes maker in Melbourne with a new working holiday visa. I stayed almost one year in the country.
After this, I travelled a bit around Australia and I went to Bali and Cambodia before going back to Japan for one month.
I returned to France after this, end of 2018, and I stayed few months before deciding to move to London for work. I lived in London for one year and I went back to France in April 2020.
Now I would like to take back my backpack and go travel again in Asia for few months! And I wish I could volunteer again through workaway to meet new people and locals. I think I can do really differents kind of things as I used to do in the past. Workaway is a great way to connect with new people, learn and accomplish new things. And that's what I am looking for!

I used workway and helpX during my travels to do differents things with my hosts.
I volunteered in an english cafe and a small school in Japan where I had to talk to students in french and english to help them to improve their capacity to speak in these languages. Was fun cause I never do teaching before and it was a good experience as I realize that teaching is not that easy. I've met a lot of japanese people of differents ages and was able to learn from them. I really do love meeting new people and be able to know more about them. That's one thing I really like about travelling.
I also volunteered in backpacker hostels to help with the cleaning. I really enyoyed thoses experiences as I have met people from all over the world and was happy to help the guests when they needed. I even thought about opening my own guesthouse one day because I liked these experiences so much! I stayed 2 months and a half in MatsuyamaI on Shikoku in Japan. My hosts was adorable and I am still in touch with them today. They really welcomed me warmly. I visited them in 2018 in their new guesthouse in Shodoshima, and I make crepes for them to sell for a music event they were hosting.
I did also some farming volunteer work in japanese countryside, New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. I did some gardening, weeding, digging the soil, planting seed, chopping wood with an axe (really hard and physical) and a chainsaw, harvesting fruits and vegetables, painting and many other things...My experience in japanese countryside was really great. As I thought I was more a city girl, I finally found myself more happy and peaceful in countryside. I went back a second time in that place in Japan close to Tottori.
I also volunteered in an ashram for 2 weeks in Australia. I was cooking, cleaning and gardening most of the time. I was able to attend the yoga class they were giving, and also the morning meditation sessions.
These are some of the volunteer jobs I have done among others. I am ready to invest myself in new things, new projects and learn from you!
I am looking forward to hear from you and meet you!
