  • Description

Hello my name is Jozef :)

On my free time I love to read, hike, boulder, sing ,vegan cooking and more…

I am absolutely loving the workaway/wwoofing formula. It is incredibly rewarding to put my energy into projects where there is care for all of nature. I see animals as our equals and plants as teachers. I would love to learn more about permaculture, community living , plants, animals, DIY and self sustainable living. In all of them I have a little bit of experience… Also tell me about your culture!

It resonates strongly with me to be working in exchange for food and accommodation instead of money. The exchange is far more valuable!
I love working outside but inside like for example cleaning can also be fulfilling.

My first experience volunteering was in 2022, when I was in the Uk for three months. Volunteering through Wwoof in Wales and Engeland. In Wales I was with a wonderful woman named Janie on a small cottage who teached me and put me to work in the garden in function to live a self sustainable life. In England I was in Braziers park, an intentional community that exists since the 50s. Here I also did some gardening, but more so cooking, making beds, support with weekend events and help organising a little festival. Both rural peaceful setting in Wales and the big group of people community living had their qualities and I like both ways.

Back home in Belgium I went to a Steiner/Waldorf school which gives me some experience in gardening, woodwork, arts and crafts,…. But I have much to learn in these things although there is some kind of basis. I am forever grateful that the Steiner school thought how to think for myself and question things to be able to understand better and learn. I think it was Henry Thoreau who said ‘to know that you know what you know and that you don’t know what you don’t know is true wisdom’ and yeah this is just a constant exercise :) I have many weeks and months of experience working with children through summer camps. My studies were performance arts at Kask Gent.

More recently, my second experience of volunteer and first one with workaway was 20/08/‘25 - 28/10/‘25 in Ireland where I worked on a animals rescue farm mostly for pigs, but there I also had my first experience with donkeys and horses. Mainly took care of the amazing pigs which they had around 150 off! And around 200 animals. There were 15 volunteers so it was another experience of community living and here I also really upped my level of vegan cooking :D

In December 2025 I was in Norway for 3 weeks where I was responsible for feeding around 20 chickens and 30 ducks (rescues ass well). I did quite some wood splitting which I like and the biggest project was building a dead hedge fence which was fun. Grateful for meeting Emma and Ove and helping them with their Småbruk (small farm)

Thanks for reading, I will ad more but going to sleep now
