Hey there! I’m Yu or Joy.
I’m currently a master’s student in Media at the University of Sydney, living in Sydney.
I feel most motivated when I’m creating something with my hands or connecting with people on a deeper level. I enjoy working on small things with care—whether it’s cooking a Chinese meal, doing crafts, or looking after animals. There’s something very grounding about caring for life, even in quiet and simple ways. It always lights me up.
I love recording life through writing, photography and video. I’m still learning, but I find joy in capturing small, honest moments. I also do some basic graphic design and enjoy turning feelings into visuals.
Connection, like “I see you” from Avatar-- where people truly notice and care for each other, means a lot to me.

I love sharing Chinese culture—especially through food! I’m confident in the kitchen and can cook a wide range of Chinese dishes. I’m also fluent in Mandarin, and always happy to help others learn more about Chinese language and traditions.

🐾 Hands-on & people skills
I’m great with animals and children. I’ve taken care of pets and helped look after my sister’s kids back home—they always seem to enjoy spending time with me! I’m also skilled in housework and daily chores. I enjoy doing things with my hands, whether it’s cleaning, organizing, or making simple crafts. Most importantly, I’m a quick learner—if there’s something new to try or a skill to pick up, I’ll give it my best and learn fast!

🎥 Creative & digital skills
I’m currently doing a Master’s degree in Media at the University of Sydney. I work with photography, video, podcasting, and basic graphic design. I enjoy storytelling and documenting experiences. Before studying abroad, I worked in China as an office administrator and international sales assistant, and I also spent time at an advertising agency, where I gained hands-on experience in creative planning and campaign coordination. I’m confident with paperwork, computer skills, structured tasks and creative ideas.

I enjoy spending my free time cooking, reading. And I love being in nature. Hiking, camping, or simply walking through new places always lifts my mood. I'm not much of a runner, but I’m definitely someone who can walk for hours!
