I'm a New Zealander who has spent most of my life in the States. I visited Aotea/Great Barrier briefly a number of years ago, and I was struck by its beauty, remoteness and what seemed to be a very independent spirit. I'd like to get a better sense of the community by living and working in it for a longer period of time, and checking out the possibility of being there on a permanent basis.

I've spent most of my life working with my hands. I'm a licensed master plumber and gas technician, licensed diesel boiler technician, a certified welder, and I have considerable construction experience. My primary job for many years was working as a studio technician at an arts/crafts school which involved building and repairing equipment related to woodworking, ceramics, glassblowing and blacksmithing. i'm currently working as a plumber, and also renovating a large commercial building that I own.
