Hello, my name's Joe :)

I've been studying ecology and conservation biology for the last 4 years at university back home in the UK - more specifically fragmentation and hedgehog parasites in the latter stages of my degree. I came out to Indonesia/SE Asia to see a bit of the world and get some scuba experience before i got an adult job but loved it so much i decided to get a working visa to see your beautiful country.

I'm a pretty easy going person, enjoy trying my hand at most sports but would particularly love to learn how to surf - I had a go in Cape town for a few weeks and managed to look pretty stylish falling in off my knees but never managed to stand up for any length of time. Not sure how relevant it is but I'm happy to eat pretty much anything, my dad used to send me to school with silver skin onion sandwiches so most things taste great compared to that.

I enjoy being outdoors and love animals so the only logical thing for me to do was to visit New Zealand and learn about the Kiwi lifestyle.

I may only be 22 but I started working as a labourer for my mates dad at 14 so I'm not shy of a bit of physical outdoor work if that's what's needed. I'm also a fast learner so if you show me what to do I'll pick it up pretty quickly, farm work, painting, building etc.

Whilst at university I worked as a line chef in a fancy restaurant (The Cut and Craft - if you're curious) so i can get by in a kitchen and would be happy to help cook, i love anything with a lot of garlic, salt and basil.

Joe was such fun to have in our home . He was so capable and took the lead in laying a beautiful brick patio for us which was tricky as we used very old mismatched bricks .
He was so patient with our son and a great conversationalist in general .

We enjoyed hosting Joe. He is very open, honest and a good communicator . He took on a variety of tasks in his week with us and exceeded our expectations regularly. He is very task driven and not happy until he has completed each job to the best of his abilities. We enjoyed his company and hope we can catch up again.
