Hi! I am Joana from Germany, have done workaway a few years ago, and I loved it!
I am 31 years old and work in sustainabiltiy since a few years now, thinking about things like waste management systems, reusable packaging solutions, responsible sourcing, or which policies we need to reduce the amount of resources we are using. I am super passionate about my job because of the impact it can have - but it is an office job, so I sometimes feel disconnected from seeing the change in the real-world. Therefore, I enjoy volunteering and generally love being in nature.
I am an open-minded, curious, and calm person who loves getting to know new people and connecting with them. I like doing sports (especially hiking and cycling) and being outside.
This time I will be travelling with my best friend Anna who I know from our studies in Environmental Sciences. She just finished her PhD on environmental impact assessments of wood products, has lived in Brazil and so speaks Portuguese (as well as Spanish) well, is very active, communicative, eager to learn new things, and just an amazing human being. We have been travelling together a lot already and doing workaway together as well is a big dream of ours.

I am quite fast in picking up and learning new things and do not mind some harder physical work and getting my hands dirty. I am also quite good in organising things and enjoy diverse type of tasks. I am curios to learn more about regenative farming, how to bring impact to local communities, building things with natural materials, creativity and strenghts, can take care of animals, do gardening, or general cleaning. I am looking for a place where I can be of help, while being surrounded by beautiful nature, and become part of a little community/family for a short time :)
