Hi there! I'm James, a freelancer from the UK who is looking to embrace new opportunities and experiences through Workaway.

A little bit about me:

I love the outdoors and I've always had a passion for travelling which has led me all around the world. In my early 20s, I backpacked through Mexico, South America and Asia. I've been fortunate to live in Australia and New Zealand, and I currently split my time between Tenerife and England.

I’ve had a diverse career which includes teaching English as a second language, developing online courses and also working in the hospitality industry managing coworking and coliving spaces.

My best attributes are being open-minded, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges. I’m happy doing physically demanding work and don't mind getting my hands dirty. I love to cook, eat healthily and spend time outdoors. I can also assist with computer-based tasks and projects, from managing social media accounts and creating website content to improving branding, marketing, SEO and GEO.

Practical and physical work:
I’m fit, healthy and comfortable with all kinds of manual tasks. I have experience in painting, decorating, basic landscaping, construction and house renovations. I’m quick to learn new skills and I can operate machinery such as chainsaws, strimmers and power tools. I've built several structures recently including a stone staircase, woodshed and stone fence.

Cooking:
I love cooking shared dinners, barbecues or group meals and have many years experience doing this while running coliving spaces and working in hospitality. I’m flexible with my diet and happy to adapt to other people's dietary needs.

Animals:
I’ve always loved animals and have looked after lots of cats and dogs over the years, both my own and other people’s. I’m calm, gentle and good at reading what animals need. I’m more than happy to help with feeding, walking and general day-to-day care.

English language and written skills:
I taught English as a second language for many years. These days I also create online courses and write content for websites, so I’m very comfortable with anything involving clear written communication.

I have a Spanish driving license, plus EU residency and full working rights through my Irish passport.

I like to have an active lifestyle - I love rock climbing both outdoors and indoors. I'm really into hiking and exploring nature, plus snorkeling, swimming, surfing and any other activities you can do at the beach.

I'm a movie and book lover, especially anything related to psychology, sci-fi and business. I'm quite fond of getting into deep discussions over a good glass of wine!
